One tip I know of is eat more fiber. It is more filling, and takes more calories to digest.
Eat regular meals, including breakfast, somepeople think skipping breakfast is going to help them lose weight, stidies have shown it does not. (However if you skip a donut for breakfast maybe .)

Good luck fellas

82.9=173lbs. Just lost under a kilo, and haven't done anything except keep off the sugar, and eat one meal a day at 6:00pm. So that would be around 2lbs off my gut

Went in to the doc this morning. I'm out of commission for the next week. Worst case of pneumonia I've ever had

On a more positive note though, I lost one of those 3 lbs I packed back on

Today's menu consisted of a nice size portion of Penne pasta. Browned up some hamburger, drained all the grease and "sponged" what was left off with paper towels, then put it all together with a jar of Ragu garden combination sauce (2 full portions of veggies per serving). Very filling and very tasty

Exercise is another matter though. Too hard to breathe when I start exerting myself, so I'll be holding off on it for another week or so. Got antibiotics to take though, so hopefully I'll be able to get back on the train next week

Well, doc says end of the week I should be feeling better. He put me on Avelox, which is a very powerful antibiotic supposedly, so we'll see Nice thing is though, my blood pressure is back down to around 142/60 (iirc) and I didnt get my arse chewed for that again

Today's meal plan consists of (you guessed it!): Leftover pasta

Oooh, been a few days since I posted here. Still working on things, I did get some results though. If you noticed, I have cleverly skated around posting my weight but the time has come since I am moving down the scale.

Weight 2 weeks ago, 275 lb, height 5'11" its the biggest I have ever been and ever care to be, I could seriously use to lose 80 lb or so to be a healthy weight.

Weight now, 265 lb. (same height, didnt think that was going to change) for a loss of 10lb in 2 weeks. I was seriously eating unhealthy for a year or so. Just by eating less and healthier things without much more exercise than normal, I have cut 10lb off my gut. I dont expect to keep losing 5 lb a week but I would like to keep losing at least 2-3.

For today:
B-toast
L-chicken sangwich
D-grilled chicken and stupid fries. The restaurant I ordered from didnt even offer any vegetables, wont be going back there. How hard is it to offer broccoli instead of fries?

I still dont miss the fatty foods. I did have some ice cream the other day but I actually would have rather had some frozen grapes, so I stocked back up and should be good for a week or two.

I've been pretty much eating whatever, including drinking, but I've been cutting back on dinner. I've purposly tried to eat NO carbs after 6:00... and my diner only consists of proteins.

Weighed myself this morning and I was 201.5-lbs.

I figure my goal is realistically about 190-195 pounds. So I'm close... it's just that the hardest weight to lose is the last 10 pounds.

I'm not really running as much as I used to since I've been spending every night working on my Fiero.

I've heard of having sex in the car, in the ocean, or even in an airplane bathroom, but while on an eliptical machine... that's impressive...

Well, quick update on my part: Against my better judgement (and Doc's orders), I went into the gym this morning bright and early. Did a mile on the bike, average speed of 12 mph at resistance of 5. Also did a quarter mile (equivalent) on what I'm guessing to be the elliptical (almost like a stair stepper and bike combined?) as my warm up, and my legs were rubber.

Did 3 sets of 15 reps at 30 lbs on the shoulder press machine and the curl machine, maxing out at 40 lbs on the shoulder press. Finished the workout on the ab roller machine, doing 50 straight "crunches" and ~25 on each side (seat pivots left to right and you kneel on your knees while moving the seat along the track with your ab muscles). Working on building core muscles right now, with some focus on toning my arms again.

Breakfast was a bowl of wheat chex with a cup of 2% milk. Lunch is leftover cheesy taco rice hamburger helper.

I'm bushed

My update

Just got in from the gym. put in 2 hours today. 3 miles equivalent between the elliptical, bike, treadmill, and stair stepper. Also busted my abs hard today between the roller and the ab press, maxed out at 70 on the ab press. arms and shoulders maxed out at about 60. Still doing 3-5 sets of 15 reps, and last set is maxed with 10 reps.

Breakfast was 2 sausage burritos from McD's (crap food, but burnt off the calories right after at the gym)
Lunch was Mongolian Buffet, mainly veggies (bak choy, shrooms, scallions, baby corn, tiny portion of chicken for protein, carrots, snow peas, and pineapple, topped with garlic sauce)

Not sure on dinner. May skip it, pretty full and worked a bit too hard at the gym, so my stomach doesn't want food

Other than that, lots of water and a Powerade. We'll see the results of my efforts on Sunday I did manage to lose 1 pound of the 3 I put back on

So I weighed in early

Down to 214! Sweet! Lots more to come too.

Today was an R&R day to recoup from the past 2 days of pushing myself at the gym. Plans for my workout schedule are going to be 2 days on, 1 day off for rest, then repeat.

May go to the gym tonight when no one is there (Anytime Fitness, 24/7 and I have a key ), but not certain yet. I want to be down to 200 by June, then push for 195 from there. Working mainly on abs and legs still (re: core), and will work my arms to tone them. The muscle is there, but I've started to develop teacher fat

Tbone, YGPM also And I like the idea of weekly updates for food. I'll follow suit and start with today's meal as well..

My meal for today consisted of 32 oz of Arizona green tea, a half of a brownie, and a 2 lb grilled chicken burrito from Qdoba, easy on rice and cheese, extra veggies, pico di gallo, and green chili sauce. For a snack later, I'll finish the other half of my brownie.

This week I ate pretty much whatever.
Slimfast shakes for breakfast, fastfood a couple of times for lunch, Hamberger Helper & Stoffers for dinners.
Lots of candy & cake.

Up one pound this week, from 253.9 last week to 254.8 this week.

Not good, but I really don't feel to bad about it.
I WILL have to do better, though.

Work has been depressing me, so I have been seeking comfort in food.
And that is the WORST of habits!

Must not do that.

I can't remember what I was on 7th Feb at doctor's..think it was 86.7 kilos? 190.7lbs.
I have cut out 95% of sugar intake because I am borderline Diabetic type 2 (blood sugar was at 140)
Like Maryjane, I never have a breakfast. Usually have a piece of local crusty bread and butter or two during the day, and always have a cooked meal at +/- 6:00pm.
By cutting out sugar in tea, (typically 15 cups a day, with 2 sugars), and cutting down to 3 cups a day, and drinking even MORE water, I have brought my blood sugar down to 120 as of last Tuesday: the lethargy has gone, the aches and pains in my knees and ankles have 90% gone..and do 5 kilometres a day at 50 rpm in 10 minutes on Ellie's excercise bike (THAT makes me sweat, AND ache ) walk about 2 kilometres a day with the dogs, been building a wall for a neighbour...and I am now down to 82.7 kilos .. 181.9 lbs. nearly 8 lbs lost!!
Changing my BP medication reduced my waist size by FOUR INCHES!!. It wasn't fat, it was the medication just making me swell up
I can now see the lower edge of my ribcage again, and see a shadow of some type of muscle there instead YAY!! When the weather changes for the better, I will be working doing heavy construction on my house again, and I will be down to 160lbs

been down with a nasty cold for last few days - but - was starting to feel better yesterday
so - off to the gym I went - mostly to clear the sinus's in the steam room
and, to get a "sweat on" with the eliptical
and - still weighed 221#....
damnit! even after 3 days of not eating much...but - wasn't moving much either, so....
was hoping the sickness would have pushed me past the platue...but...nope....

so - my next hope to break the platue is springtime, and shedding "winter weight"...lol - like thats for real....

Still at 214 here. Out of commission for a few days though. Hit the gym yesterday morning, worked abs and cardio (focusing on those two right now to increase endurance). All was fine with that, then went to MMA last night and caught a full force round kick that missed the hand pads, right to the inside of my right bicep, an inch above and below the elbow and shoulder hurts like a something-or-other

No weights for me for a few days, swollen and black and blue. Also pulled a groin muscle

I hate getting old and fat lol

yay - 219# on the scale last night

that got me going, and I hit the weights pretty hard. completely noodled my arms. ended up to pooped to get very far on the eliptical....but - got a good sweat in.

being such an awesome day outside - finally - was tough to get myself to go. was so thinking I should get back to work on the Fiero. finish the caddy brakes on the rear. maybe start on the 3.4 intake manifold....I have a driveway full of cars needing little things + the Fiero....getting that time of year...plus yard work....

I am finally starting to see some weight loss again. I think the body reaches points where adjusts to your level of intake and exercise and you need to shock it with another change. My big change this time is I eliminated milk and replaced that intake with water, I had also stopped weight training for two and a half weeks due to extreme weather etc. MY home gym is outside! I have trouble getting a good work out in when temps are in the 30's. I LOVE milk and have only been drinking skim for years but still, milk's real purpose is to fatten and grow cattle so why would it do anything different for us? I am sure the growth hormones they feed the cows aren't helping either.

I also came to the realization that I am probably going to have to go past my projected goal. Denial is our worst enemy, really, that is why we are having to do this in the first place!

By the way, at my current 6 foot 190 pounds I am "morbidly obese" according to the new government BMI index. Yes this is the one that the doctors are going to be using when reporting your health to the feds.
