Yes, . It's called defensive driving, but mainly my comment was directed toward those who come from nowhere and decide to remain in your blind spot. However, 18-wheelers, elderly, and all crazed people that are doing everything but driving-you need to be on guard thus a need to take matters into your own hands. At night (while I'm driving) I take it seriously for they are people who will roll down the window and shot. Or there might be something in the road and the need for correction. You can't do that when there's somebody texting in the other car next to you.

To make matters worse I've witnessed where people will creep pass you in the passing lane while your coming upon a 18-wheelers. You signal to inform them you want to move over, but they don't move thus you're now playing "chicken" with a 18-wheeler. I have found that it is better to speed up and get in front of the moron to pass the truck on the right. Yes, it pisses off the other driver, but had they moved a bit faster it wouldn't force me to shift lanes.

This is my pet peeve. Also, the whole defensive driving thing was part of my defence.

Mine too. I last week had a lady driving a blue colored hybrid approaching from nowhere in the passing lane. I was in the slow lane going the posted speed 70mph. The old lady comes flying up and I'm thinking she'll keep on going pass me. Not! What does she do? She slow downs right in front of me as I'm approaching an 18-wheeler from behind. My goodness! If you’re going 75-80mph-KEEP ON GOING!!! Don’t decide to slow down right in front me.

I tap the brake to release the cruise control as she creeps pass me and the truck going 56-58 mph. I get in right behind her shaking my head at her (I could see her viewing my displeasure in her rear view mirror). A few seconds later (seem like a freaking 1/2 mile run) we both pass the truck. She veers over in front of the truck and then decides to take the next exit. As she does-she looks to her left to see me (once more) shaking my head in displeasure. However, getting back to the cop.

If the cop comes up from behind and then decides to hang there in your blind spot for nothing more than being there-he's a moron! Plain and simple. It's unsafe and it's stupid. I experienced a CHP pulling over a guy on a motor bike (look like a Vespa) at 12:30-1AM coming around a downward 6% hair pin curve shaped like an up side down question mark (?). Keep in mind-it's foggy and it's a blind curve thus when I come around the curve I see blazing lights so I make a sudden change towards the concrete wall thinking it's maybe a accident or something thus my tires make the squealing sounds, so this young officer decides to get in his car after me. I pull over and guess what this jackass says?

"You were speeding and riding on the white line, huh?" "That's why your tires where squealing." I told this young officer (who obviously has limited knowledge about safely pulling over cars), "You don't pull people over in a blind spot, especially around a blind curve. You could cause an accident regardless of the speed!" This moron knew I was right, but because of his ego-listening to sound reasoning wasn't in the cards until 2-3 minutes of me going back'n forth. He let me go and told me to slow down. Trust me. Nothing is more stupid than someone in law enforcement who doesn't follow safety guidelines to himself who rather put they're own ego above common sense.
