I just had the honor of welcoming a group of soldiers home from Afghanistan. As they deplaned the walked through a tunnel of people holding American flags. The entire concourse here at Omaha, Nebraska clapped and cheered as they deplaned and walked through. It continued until they had all left the concourse. 

None of them expected it. It was great. There was a little boy who had made a poster for his dad. His mother looked about 8 months pregnant. It was an emotional thing to see when his father reached the top of the jetway.

My buddy just came back a few weeks ago from Kandahar. Just left to head back over this morning Last trip there, then he is done with this assignment in June and its back to Germany. Guess that's the wonders of being an 11B MOS and being stuck in 2SCR after graduation...

He did say come spring time it was going to get hairy where he and his platoon are. Birthplace of the Taliban and all

At least he gets to play with a SAW Although he did say it sucked in the desert environment and was a giant piece of junk...
