That is true. It is also true that our early American leaders had to deal with Muslim hostage takers. They began by trying to appease them by paying their ransoms when they took an American ship. Then they wised up, built up our Navy and Marine Corps and went over there and kicked their asses. That part of our history is forever part of the Marine Corps Hymn.

yes, the christians & muslim tensions go way back, and you cannot trust either when they speak about the other.

No, Jefferson wouldn't have been labeled a Muslim today. He was open minded to understanding many religious beliefs.


The 5 things people believe might be ridiculous, but so were a lot of their supporting "arguments". Pretty pathetic. Weakened the respect for their actual good points they made. They should stick to humor.

And, Jefferson initiated that overseas conflict WITHOUT the approval of congress--much less a declaration of war. The precedent set.

People like to mention his possession of the Quran as proof of his support for Islam, but the truth was that he had a Quran because he saw the Muslim nations as threats. He was learning about the motivations and reasonings behind the actions of the enemy. You know, Barbary Pirates(whats with muslims becoming pirates?) and the shores of Tripoli and what not?
