My Walkera HM#59D just lost the smoke out of the main motor So I took a look at it . It has a small PCB on it, and it was this that smoked. Out of idle curiousity, I unsoldered it, and re-attached the two wires to the terminals...and it works just the same. Just what do those little PCB's DO? ARE they really neccessary? WIll it completely burn out now? Hehehehe!!... Nick
In my experience, hose little guys usually have a small capacitor in 'em, they sorta keep the power level more 'level' (know what I mean? )
I think some have a diode in them so if the motor were to become a generator (spin spin spin), the voltage wouldn't kill the thing the motor was attached to...
Thanks Chris! It crossed my mind it might be some kind of suppressor to avoid radio interference... Maybe you are right...but it seems to run just fine without it! Nick PS...yes, that makes good sense, because when you cut the power, the rotors keep it spinning , turning the motor into a generator Well done!! Nick

Resistors, a Diode, Don't see any Caps there...

brushed motors need a capacitor to snuff false signals to the reciever. Brushless usually dont have them. Radios have gotten a lot better lately. Older ones got hit by everything electronic. Ive even wrecked race cars when someone used a CB before.
