And people wonder why there inspection stations close down. This guy is basicley saying if you have somthing wrong with oyur car i'll pass it. In PA unless your cars a classic you NEED to have a cat to pass its part of the visiual inspection. Aslso if your check engine light is on.. failed.. If theres any crack in the windshield that your windshield wipers cross over.. Failed. I'll amdit iv gotten some lick and stick inspections in my day (my cars are all legaly inspected and passed legaly) but advertizing you will pass them for for these issues is a good way to get your inspection licence revoked.

Looks like someone has a beef with the inspection station and figures it will get them in trouble.
That's why their is a parts list in alphabetical order so the search picks it up with everything, and more people see it.

I give it 5 minutes before it's gone. Whomever did it had better not have used his real E-Mail, that's grounds for some serious trouble.

This is one of the things that drives me nuts about some states.

Virginia is the exact same way. They require a yearly inspection and emissions testing for all vehicles EVERY single year (unless it's changed since I left).

People have done the research and determined that there is absolutely NO feasible benefit to the entire program, and that it's sole purpose is to bring in additional income to the state.

We used to have it in Florida, but Jeb Bush eliminated it when he was elected Governor in his first term. Our metro area more than met the emissions levels required by the Federal government for many years, so it was a simple thing for him to eliminate it all together.

yes but hes listing all the things that will immeditley fail you for inspection. and the fact that he listed no cat's is the part that tells me its a lick and stick operation.

In NY the initial purpose for state wide car inspection was to insure the cars were SAFE to be on the road. Brakes, lights, horn, suspension, tires etc worked. It was a $10 fee to check that stuff out. But it was never a money maker, so the inspection stations would always find something wrong.. Headlight alignment, balljoints, tie rods or many easy to fix repairs to bring in money. There were always places that would, for $25, would issue an inspection sticker. This was alot cheaper than fixing the cars. Emission testing was usually only done in high population density areas.

I know there were many unsafe cars on the road..my brother used to pay the $25 and drive cars with no brakes, bad tires and were scary to be in.

To advertise that he will get the car to pass Pa inspection, can mean all sorts of things, from repairs to $100 for an inspection sticker. To me it sounds like he will pass your car for $100, no questions asked.

Thats basicley the way they work when they do this. PA inspection price's go from $55-$75. i'v never paied any more than that for a legit inspection. lol back in the day my friend would charge me $55 for the inspection than a pack of cig's to pass it.

I never did this with a car that shouldent be on the road with dangerous problems but if i'm getting 14MPG and the state thinks i should be getting 17MPG than thats where they get a big **** you from me. I'm happy about my IMSA though. since its 25 years (or older) no emmissions.

He may actually be doing a bait-and-switch rather than a lick-and-stick. "Sure, I'll inspect your car for $100! Don't guarantee it'll pass. Where'd I say that? You ned new..."

But thanks to our Governor Christie, NJ no longer HAS Safety Inspections! Thank you Chris! He said, "Surveys show... ding ding ding! NO improvement in safety." Still have emissions, though. Our air is probably crummy enough to warrant that.

All that bad air blowing in from the west...

It was never that way. We still have annual inspections, but no emmissions test. I have been a Virginia driver for 30 years and have never had any of my cars tested for emmissions, ever. I think you have the wrong State.

The dude went crazy with the keywords! I absolutely hate that. Hey, I am looking for a Fiero, and bamm! Hidden amongst the drivel, is one word that says Fiero. The add will be a constant repost. I can see the future....

In Atlanta and surrounding areas, your car can be shedding parts as it goes down the road.
As long as it has clean breath, it's all good.

(I actually heard of one girl failing because she had a broken passenger side mirror, but I think the guy was trying to scam her. I, OTOH, had a Fiero to pass with no rear bumper cover or decklid. I think I did put the taillights back in, though. )

Not sure I completely buy that. I used to live in SW VA/NE TN area. VA had inspections, TN didn't. If you ever saw what I called "a rolling junkyard", it would inevitably have TN plates. I NEVER saw a vehicle with VA plates that I was afraid to drive behind. I saw several with TN plates. Also, when I lived in SC, they had inspections there, too. Headlight aiming was one of the things checked, and we didn't have anywhere NEAR the problem with blinding headlights that we have where I live now. I would LIKE to see inspections... IF they were implemented properly.

That is the impression that I got out of it too. He is probably a muffler shop and/or general mechanic.

Years ago 50's PA use to have saftey inspections every 6 months and the sticker went on the far passenger side of the windshield.

Compare that to current Delaware inspection,,,,, A new vehicle is good for a 3 year term of inspection. Older than that and they will ask you how many years do you want, 1 or 2? We're talking inspection, emissions & registration all in one shot for $40.00 annual.

They dont do any repairs but they punch your card telling what failed. You get your repairs done and return as many times as you want for free.
You pay when you pass.

I like their brake test. From a distance an inspector drops the flag signaling you to nail it! When you reach the skid plates you stomp on the brakes as hard as you can and a recorder shows the braking force on each wheel. As long as things are even side to side your good to go.

Contact between pad and rotor can be metal to metal on all 4 corners as long as you can get her stopped with even braking your good.

I'd love to see someone do a burnout in there. They do have exhaust fans :

Here in Nebraska, we used to have a mechanical safety inspection. They did away with it years ago. I think they realized just how useless it was...lots of "inspections stations" would pass you very easily...usually for a few bucks under the table. We've never had an emissions inspection. I guess there ARE a few perks living in a state where the total population of the whole state is about 1.8 million.

Here in Michigan, we used to have emission inspections in the Tri-county area. Why they never tied it to a safety inspection I don't know. I would have liked to see some of the junkers I pass every day taken off the road. The way it worked was that if your car failed, you were required to do a "emission tuneup" costing I think around $ 50, if it failed again, oh well we tried, just keep driving. Also, if you were low income on welfare, you were excempt. Just seems we weren't real serious about it, I'm glad it's gone.

I wish they would get rid of ours, but the way they see it, since you have to show proof of liability insurance before inspection, and again at tag renewal, it is just an extra way to insure people don't buy insurance at tag time then stop paying the premium after the 1st month. Ins companies are supposed to notify state if ya drop it, but I'm not sure if they do or not.
