Opend the mailbox today to find ANOTHER bill from the radiology associates that did my scans this past summer.
I THOUGHT i paid everything off but all of a sudden there is some delinquent bill of 202.18!
So even after taking 700 of the money i got for My Camaro, plus car insurance, travel gas, and i actually bought some people xmas presents this year, i now have a total of 40.12 in my bank account.
Im HOPEING that ill get an aditional 700 for my Fiero which hasnt been paid for or picked up yet (long story) But that will leave me with 500 or so that i was planning on useing to purchase a new to me Fiero
so, anyone want to buy a ton of 2.8 parts? i have everything but the block, heads, and internals. Oh no distiributor either got that sold already
I thought your Fiero being sold was a done deal. What's the scoop?
Well the winner of the auction was unsure he had the money to come and pick it up and being that the auction ended almost a whole month ago and i havent heard anything from him in almost two weeks, ive offered it to the runner up who has accepted and will be hopefully picking it up on the 18th. He is from Iowa and will probably join the forum

check your records (check stubs, credit cards) carefully to see if you paid it already. it's not unusual for the SOBs (not necessarily these specific healthcare professionals) to double bill or commit healthcare fraud.

That is where im super confused. I called my bank and notified them that on the first of each month 50 to 75 would be withdrawn by them for payment on the bills. I recieved a phonecall each time from my bank and they told me that the bill was paid off almost 3 weeks ago. That was when i did a lump payment of about 450. Now ive got a bill printed on yellow paper stating that its going to go to a collection agency if they dont receive payment in 10 days and yet next to it i have the printout from them saying thanks for paying the bill off in full yadayada.
Where the H did the extra 200 come from all of a sudden???

let me guess, it's not itemized, either. talk to them, and politely ask them to explain precisely what it is they want you to pay for. get them to tell you what the arcane codes mean. chances are, they can't tell you. they may even be sympathetic and helpful, if you're nice.
the system is designed with the assumption that you're going to pay inflated bills with insurance, without really questioning it. the billing process is chock-full of inefficiency, redundancy and occasionally, out-and-out greed.
the health care "system" is so complex and diffuse that no one really knows what's going on. the administrators don't talk to the doctors who don't talk to the technicians who don't talk to the billing offices, and no one talks to the patients. you've got to stay on these people every step of the way. doctors bury their mistakes, and then they get paid out of your estate.
yes, i've had a little experience with the medical establishment. how can you tell?

Yes, you need to check and re-check your medical bills. I was over billed by $9000 last year, when I had to take my wife in for an emergency appendectomy. It took almost six months to get my money back. The problem I had was that my insurance declined payments because the wrong codes were submitted to them by the doctors and other errors. We had to write to each doctor and the hospital's billing department, to request that they resubmit their paperwork to the insurance company. Once the insurance paid them, we were refunded for what we paid them out of pocket. You need to do these things ASAP too, because they are time sensitive. Medical billing is so complicated that most people don't know their ass from their elbow when it comes to submitting insurance claims. I am fortunate enough to have several family members, with medical billing experience, that helped me through this.

I too have medical bills that started at $10k but after a few months more came in a another $10K was added to the accounts. if i didn't have the surgery back in the mid 2010 then I might not see 2011, so at least I am alive, even if i have huge medical bills. And i don't even have a job YET.

Not that it helps but i do agree hospital bills really suck due to how they bill for services ( wont get into the debate of how much they charge for things ... ). There should be ONE bill, so you know how much you owe and can work out a deal for payment. They could redistribute it around as you pay it off.
That said, most hospitals will work with you on the bill, and some will even write it off if you are really in the hole. When my first wife and i lost our son ( some 21 years ago now. doesn't seem thats its been that long. ), the bill was something like 80 grand ( for almost nothing.. ). We were barely keeping a roof over our heads and eating at the time so we talked to them and explained that we had zero money and was trying to make some arrangement somehow to be responsible, and instead they wrote it off 100%.
Hmm 21 years. :|
