Then I read the fine print and realized that it's only a one year contract. Well, to heck with that. I can draw un-employment for way longer than that. (OK, I said that in jest.)

Ron,
Generally all grants are "one year" contracts with them being renewable every year.. In other words, the grant needs to be re-applied every year. My last gig was as a project manager for an IDOE grant, renewed every year.. lasting a 5 year stint. I guess what I'm saying is, don't let the 12 month thing throw you for a loop.
The thing is, it is political. Our grant ended when we got a new state super, and he decided to treat education as a business entity and put the bottom line in front of the needs of the teachers and students. Public Education is not supposed to be a profit center.
At any rate, if you're really considering it... I'd be more than happy to share my experiences in a grant situation with you. Let me know and I'll give you a call

how is community organizer a real title? If I gather the community together with a free lunch, then I am a community organizer and maybe I could become president one day!

p.s. - I was a car club president for 5 years - shouldn't that qualify me for at least a cabinet position?
It would land you a spot in jail in Cuba for conspiracy / to conspire against the government.
You may not have more than 3 unrelated people meeting outside of work or government functions, if they are not granted the express permission of the government for the right to assemble.
