Right, we get something: Like being able to still have a forum to go to. ( and still the best out there )
EDIT: for what its worth, I'm hooking up with a hosting service that is under 100 a year for unlimited space and bandwidth, if it ever came to that. Put a client on it last year, going to switch my own stuff over next month.

text based links are OK. Animated/popup/noise making = Not so much...
This is as far as I'm willing to go with ads. I tried to make it as unobtrusive as possible and actually give something back in return (using the extra vertical space for thread info).

Also, reverse the layout... Put the ad to the right of the topic title/started by/time/date etc...
I tried that and that looked actually much worse. The reason it is as it is, is that the layout doesn't change with every thread. If I would put the thread title to the left, the ad would shift all the time due to varying lengths of thread titles. And that makes it very chaotic.

Isn't there a way to set the "banner" to a set length and just use "..." for the extra title length that goes beyond the length of the box? I'm no coder, but I can't see that being too awfully hard for someone with your skillz...

That's hard to answer. If I answer "no", that might be seen as an invitation to click the ads which is a TOS violation and Google could end my AdSense subscription. If I answer "yes", I would be lying.

Sorry, that was a dopey question. Then again, My mind was kinda focused on.....something else...
edit: Betcha you'd make more money with my "Blocker" then with your Ads...
Already don't really notice the ads anymore - but the clock ticking... *twitch twitch* I STILL SEE THAT
Just hope they don't start enlarging and making a ruckus (audio)...
Lets see how fast people start LIKING the Ads...(they DO say "Fiero" in them... but then I keep thinking they're selling NEW Fiero Stuff, then I click and I go "awwwww")
I too have ABP, so all I noticed was the info and the clock which I thought was pretty nice actually. So now I turned ABP off, and it's still fine. I can definitely handle some ads while here. I love this place.

Rumor.... You should sell your "Ad Blocker" application for 10 bucks, with 100% of all proceeds being donated to Cliff.. You'd sell it big, and Cliff would not need ads... Not that I have an issue with the ads where they are.
Make options to display scantily clad women, or Fieros...
And if people want their Fieros in the application, they could pay you 5 bucks and send you a photo.. Again, 100% of all proceeds being donated to Cliff...
