President Barack Obama may have expressed humility during his conciliatory news conference Wednesday over the shellacking he took in the midterm elections, but just hours after speaking to the nation, he made it very clear in a phone call to left-leaning activist group MoveOn that he is not willing to compromise his core beliefs.
“We always knew bringing about change in Washington wouldn’t be easy, and it might get tougher in the days ahead,” Obama told the liberal organization's supporters a day after Republicans won the House in a landslide. “The message I took away from the elections is very simple: The American people are still frustrated. They still want change; we just have to work harder to deliver the change the American people want.”
Obama said he and activist organizations like MoveOn must work harder pushing the progressive agenda “until every American sees real change in their own lives . . . We didn’t sign up for doing what was easy, we signed up for doing what was right,” he said of his policies to fix America. “We are going to continue to take all the time it takes –– and all the effort it takes –– to get our country back on track.”
Obama wants MoveOn to keep the spirit of hope and change alive because it helps him translate that spirit into accomplishment.
“To those who began the journey with me almost four years ago, think about how far we’ve come,” Obama said. “Think about the ups and downs we went through during the course of the campaign. There were times when folks counted us out and we always came back. The same thing is going to happen over the next two years, and the next six years.”

And if we are really lucky, Sarah Palin will be at the helm!!!
Go Team!!! Woot Woot...
The turtle posted above would move the economy faster than Obama's policies have.
"Obama said he and activist organizations like MoveOn must work harder pushing the PROGRESSIVE agenda “until every American sees real change in their own lives" . His line about if you want to move forward you put the car in "D", not "R" was clever. But he is so lame he doesn't understand the car is stuck in "P" ("Progressive"), and neither him nor the car it won't move.

Where in that "article" does he say he's going to fight the GOP?
I couldn't find it either? It must be just more of this:
Propaganda \ˌprä-pə-ˈgan-də, ˌprō-\
1. capitalized : a congregation of the Roman curia having jurisdiction over missionary territories and related institutions.
2. The spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person.
3. Ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect.
Around here, I always use definition numbers 2 or 3.

OR...and this is just a thought, MAYBE some people are perpicacious enough to read the MEANING of the President's words without having the bouncing ball.

Surely you can see how that idea is dangerous. Deciding what someone means dispite what they say they mean?
Extremests do that with their religion, don't they?
Opinion, maybe. Fact, hardly.
Just saying...

I am with you.
Propaganda is on both sides. C'mon guys we need to look at ourselves JUST AS MUCH as the Dems.
What respect will ever be learned if BOTH parties practice the SAME crap? It's ridiculous.
And Kid0, very few Reps want Palin up top. She's up there because other top dawgs think that's what the people want. That, and she's a media whore. Better than Obama, IMO, but definitely not the best choice to lead a movement bent on restoring sanity to the government.

I agree, in that the political propaganda has gotten to the point that it has just become silly. Advances in communication (the internet) have created a means that allow it to spread like wildfire. It is unfortunate that there are so many that believe it. For most, it is a case of political tunnel vision that won't allow them to see outside the narrow point-of-view that they subscribe to, liberals and conservatives alike.
I could not imagine the GOP considering Palin as a contender in 2012. She has no substance. She has become nothing more than her own reality show. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in today.
It will be interesting to see where this change in the House takes us over the next 2 years.

In 08 I could not imagine a freshman progressive lawyer senator running and winning. Look what that did to our country! "That's the politics baby" quote, Richard Pryor.

Where in that "article" does he say he's going to fight the GOP?
The "article" doesn't say he is going to fight the GOP. The PRESIDENT does.
You have to take this in context of the last few days, not one article.
Obama took the wrong message from the elections, so while the message from the elections WAS simple to understand, it wasn't for HIM. Americans ARE frustrated. BECAUSE of the change Obama was making. "They still want change." Yes. The american people are STILL waiting for change that is HELPFUL. "...we just have to work harder to deliver the change the American people want." How would working harder do that, since he obviously didn't know what they wanted in the first place, and when they TOLD him they didn't want it, he JAMMED it down their throats.
"...must work harder pushing the 'progressive' agenda..." Well, SOCIALIST agenda would be more accurate than "progressive". The American people HATED what Obama has pushed to this point, and want it repealed. If he is going to work harder to push it, he is going to be fighting the republicans because THEY listend to the people and they are going to UNDO it.
"...get the country back on track..." Actually, it was off track and he veered it even FARTHER off track. And Americans voted they wanted to get back on track. So Republicans will try to do that, while Obama is going to "work harder" to veer it even farther off track. So THAT is where the fight is. Regarding the "clever" Obama and how if you want to move forward you put the car in "D", not "R", yeah kind of clever. But when you have driven your car to the edge of a cliff, you want to put the car in "R", not "D".

I am sure that you are a master at Scrabble and word jumbles. The title of the article, and the "context" of the article surrounds a supposed discussion that Obama had with his liberal supporters, specifically the group Move On, after the election. In that discussion, the statement "I will fight the GOP" was not made. The statement was made up by the author of the article, and used in the title to rally a specific group of people.
You have pieced together a number of quotes from the past few days, including statements made leading up to the election. Much of what is said during election time politicking are statements that simply exist to rally supporters. Nothing more. I am sure that anyone could take quotes from Obama over a set period of time and piece together whatever view they wanted. The problem with that is it lacks context, especially when relating unrelated topics. Like the author in the article of the OP, you created the fight.
It's too bad you didn't use that X on a Triple Word Score!
Edited to add...
I think the sad thing is that the majority of the American People still expect the news to report fact, and read/watch it as such. Anymore, it seems that our news has become nothing more than a grandstand for celebrity opinion, with newscasters being the celebrities of our day. It's all about the ratings!

Well, it was a bit sarcastic. But you essentially wrote off things he said it seems. I just took it that way.
Taking a recent example, such as Hillary Clinton and Obama during their contest for the Democratic ticket in 2008. Each said things against the other. They both made accusations and pointed fingers. When the decision is made, one loses, the other wins. After that, they settled down, ignore the rhetoric of the political "battle" for the position, and ended up working together. I know that not all politicians are able to come to an agreement, and it is a bit harder when you consider the R's and D's as two different teams, but in the end, they do need to work together to some degree if anything but a political stalemate is to occur. If they (including the president, as well as members of the Senate and the House) choose not to, they are wasting our time.

The bigger question here is how did they know he said this? Were they listening in on the conversation or do they have a mole in MoveOn that is feeding them this story?
What are you doing debunking your own post? You usually come along to add more fuel (another article) to the fire?

I guess that depends on your perspective. I personally would rather they waste time than waste our national treasury. Stalemate is good enough for me knowing there is little chance the damage done over the last two years will get repaired. If stalemate stops the insanity we've had the last two years, I'll settle for that until 2012.
