After the 2010 election, I felt a real pain and fear for the future of this great country. Tonight, I regain a glimmer of hope. I hope they can repair the damage the democrats have done in the short time they chose to steamroll the US citizens with programs they did not want.
And God bless anything that moved pelosi on down the road to retirement.

I'm confident we can do it. I'll be working at it.

Well it's from our left leaning rag.. I'll hold out some hope.. but I do live in the Berkley of the Midwest

I celebrate tonight, but now the hard work begins. The candidate I volunteered for won handily. Now I will press him harder than the Dem that is now leaving. He will become sick of seeing my name on e-mails. I think I may just pay him a visit in D.C.

Yup, that's the plan. Ride the Republicans backs, no breaks.

Chet Edwards – the one Texas Democrat who for years won re-election in a clearly Republican district – is no longer the exception to the rule. Texas Republican Bill Flores has ousted veteran Democrat Chet Edwards from the Lone Star state's 17th district. As well as Waco, the district includes the town of Crawford, where a certain George W Bush lives on a ranch.
Republican Perry easily wins re election to Gov of Texas over Bill White--former Houston mayor. Neither candidate for gov was worth shooting imo.

Yep, I was just telling my wife that. What is it with these people in Minnesota? I guess they don't mind getting a bigger government with higher taxes. I need to move...

Looks like Pennsylvania Senate race is down to the wire with Toomey in the lead, but the race is so close that the Dems will parachute the lawyers in and discover the hidden lost ballot boxes in ole' Ms. Judy election workers trunk when recounts occur.
Toomey wins!

Good stuff, the people have spoken. Always healthy to have a strong opposition as long as it doesn't cause a total adversarial Government that can't get anything done. Should be interesting to watch.

Depends what you refer to with "anything done". Cap & Trade is done for. So is immigration reform that contains amnesty. Any planned 'bailouts" will hit an immediate roadblock. Anything that cuts spending will probably get good support from the house, but may be loggerheads in the Senate without bi-partisan support. The big thing is not new legislation, but deciding which of the current programs get funded, or unfunded.

How are the Tea Party "candidates" doing?
Our government is adversarial by design. Split power is a good thing, as it means anything that passes will have to have both Dem & GOP support.

It could be worse. You could be in California. This state is FINISHED. The dumbass liberals elected Jerry f***ing Brown for governor. The same liberal Democrats who have the state on the verge of bankruptcy just removed the last stop by electing a liberal Democratic governor. On top of that, prop 23, which would have suspended the asinine state Cap and Tax until unemployment drops to reasonable level failed, and prop 25, which removes the 2/3 majority requirement to raise taxes and fees, passed.
So, here's the scorecard: We now have complete liberal control, no impediments to higher taxes and Cap and Trade in the state goes forward. High unemployment already, higher taxes to come, more taxes and costs with cap and trade, and nothing to stop it. This state is F***ED.

It appears the Democrat talking points is that there are no black Senators because Republicans are racist. Although they ignore that two black Republican House candidates won today.

Know what ? With the TEA party riding the repubs that just took the purse strings, Collapseifornia isn't getting a federal bailout either. Seriously, even if the house is a toxic asset, it might be a good time to move somewhere that isn't about to default. It's state economy is about like a sun that's burnt all the hydrogen and helium, fused all the carbon and oxygen, and is rapidly building up a core of iron. It's about to blow.
Beautiful place to visit, some great people out there, but I sure wouldn't want to live there.

I agree. I *really* hope that, if the state asks the feds for a bailout, they say "no". The dumbasses running this state can't stop spending, and won't do what's necessary to fix the problems, and a majority of voters in this state have neither the sense nor the balls to vote for the hard choices. This state has to fail for anything to have a chance of failing. Hell, if the new speaker of the house were standing in front of me, I'd beg him to not give a bailout to the state.

I no longer want to live here, but I don't have the financial means to leave.

You cannot believe how happy I am. EIGHTEEN YEARS of putting up with him. Next up, (PLEASE!), getting rid of Herb Kohl.
and the absolutely unbelievably horrendous Governor stepped down, knowing he would get pounded, and so did the democratic mayor of Milwaukee who they talked into running for governor.

Although huge strides were taken on Nov. 2, what we got was a stalemate. Not enough to overturn or repeal some of the recent expensive changes Obama, Reid and Peloswi pushed through. The best we can hope for is the new Congress will stop the hemoraging of unsecured cash flowing so freely. The next election campaigning is about to begin. Obama will say the new Congress wouldn't support his programs and that's why they failed. Pure BS but, it's coming. His programs have been resoundly rejected by the same folks that put him into office. This is Change I can believe in. I just Hope the damage can be repaired. There are many tough choices still to come. Be prepared to pay the price for the last two years of free for all spending. It ain't over.

It's just beginning. And those who whine and covet are going to become louder and more desperate than ever, to find some way to talk congress into continuing to increase the debt and deficit just so THIS generation won't have to pay for it's screwups..

fairly satisfying. nowhere near as bad as predicted and - the best part - only 1 out of 5 of the major Tea Party candidates made it after the 3rd round of disgruntled voters sweeping out Washington DC, it is left with no side overwhelmingly in charge.

For the most part, the democrats got stomped. Pelosi is gone now right?
Here in Ohio, every democrat lost from the governor down. Thank god the new governor elect is tossing out the proposed 'slow rail' train project. He told everyone it would be his first offical act. Strickland (demo) had it forever as his pet project even though no one wanted it. Guess the voters showed him whats up. yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pyrthian, are you INSANE? What is the alternative? Huh? Democrats? Been there, done that, we're left with the 4 trillion dollar bill. Republicans? Unless we change them somehow, they won't help. We need new ideas. The Tea Party is about the principles that made this country successful. What is your alternative for success?

Maybe I'll add Ohio to the list of states I'd consider moving to.

Just wanted to let everyone know... I'm sticking to my self-ban of no longer discussing politics on this message board! Hoorah for everyone who hates my political views, and horray for me for the reduced stress and more car talk!!!
I wouldn't be too happy about all this, you still only have 1/3rd of the power in DC. Now you'll have to share responsibility as well. We all know that the current situation was a long time brewing and it started before the D's took power, that's pretty much a given. The difference now is, you can't continue to blame the D's only because of your shared power. It's so odd watching you guys on here complaining about how Obama and Democrats ruined the country, when all the while it was Bush and the Republicans who had the power leading up to and into the recession. You have to own a piece of it again, so enjoy the all the ridiculous assertions coming your way. All in all this is probably going to end up with a lot of deadlock again.
