My 2 cents, for me it's a mixed bag about cfl's. I have a number of recessed lights in my living room and bed room that I have changed over to cfl floods, the upside is I save on the power bill, the downside, the light sucks, the lights come on slow and some of them arn't living anywhere near as long as they are supposed to.

I'm not impressed!!!

Aside from my rant earlier, I like CFL's, especially the daylight bulb's. The new CFL's don't have near the warmup time the older ones do. Like other's have said, ya get what ya pay for. I have GE bulbs in my driveway lights and other than cold weather issues, I've had none in the 5 years I've had them.

Is that "Buy American"?

Not really...

BUT... it's better than if they make them over there, and then sell them to us regardless.

Like with Toyota... we still seem to buy them, but at lest they're being made here. I would much rather see Ford or Chrysler... and even GM make that money though.

All but a very few of my lighting are CFL's and CCFL's.
I stocked up at Home Depot since they had 4 packs of Ecosmart CFL's for $1.85.

All GE brand CFL's I have say made in China. I've never seen a CFL that was made anywhere else.

CFL's made the single biggest impact on my electric bill.
