I have been getting a lot of reports lately that when people are trying to send me an email, the email is bounced back to them with some kind of error message.
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong.
So please email me by clicking here: errortest@pennock.nl (no Rick Roll, I promise). If after a while you get an error message (or bounce email) back, please post the error message here (no need to quote the entire mail, just the relevant error).
It seems that it's mostly email coming from Hotmail accounts that get these errors so if you have a Hotmail account, I'd appreciate it if you would email me from there.
Oh, no need to write a lengthy email, since I probably won't read them anyway (unless of course the subject line entices me to do so ).
Thanks!
PS: If you have send me an email and I didn't respond, that's probably why.

errortest@pennock.nl passes the syntax check. TLD is valid. The domain is pennock.nl The mail host for pennock.nl is mail.pennock.nl. Looking up IP address for mail.pennock.nl. The IP address for mail.pennock.nl. is 217.148.167.146 217.148.167.146 is not black listed. creating socket.....OK. Attempting to connect to '217.148.167.146' on port '25'... Connected
Tried to send it twice using the link you posted and it errored out on me both times, yahoo based. Copy and paste the address to my G-mail and it sent, topic: Umm, Okay.

sending.... one from my web-feed account (yahoo, yo) and one from this account - via my BlackBerry the battery is very nearly dead on my phone, so it may take a bit. Enjoy the attached images.

Maybe a bad DNS server on some segment of the net? Did you update MX records recently, change IPs, etc?
That what I was thinking but so far it seems only Hotmail accounts are receiving the error message. Oddly enough if you try a second time from the same Hotmail account, it usually goes through without a problem.
Problem is that Hotmail error messages are very undescriptive, so they give no clue as what might be wrong.
(and no, I didn't not change any of the records recently)

I think I figured out what was causing the errors when sending from Hotmail. Apparently, a lot of Hotmail servers are blacklisted as sources of spam in the SORBS database. This causes my mailserver to automatically reject the incoming mail.
Doing a quick Google search on SORBS and it becomes clear the SORBS database is controversial at best.
I checked today's and yesterday's mail log and found that SORBS is indeed utterly useless and the only mails it blocked where all legit emails. So I have removed SORBS from my list of blacklist databases.
But like I said, that only seems to affect mail being send from Hotmail. Still not sure what's causing the errors from other mailers (like Yahoo).
