So anyone tried it? Did it work, did it brick your phone? Did it cause babies to fly out of the sky and small dogs vanish into another dimension?

What version hardware did you try it on?

Didn't use that particular site, but I recently had a friend give me his old Iphone 3G.

I promptly jailbroke it using redsnow. I also unlocked it, but don't recall what program I used.

I got all my info from:

http://modmyi.com/

No problems to report so far, although I'm wishing I hadn't enabled "multitasking" when I jailbroke as it appears to have slowed the phone down a noticeable amount...

So far 'snow' and 'rain' doesn't support my boot rom. This webpage doesn't even talk about that being an issue. I just hate to brick my phone.

Multitasking when i went to iOS4 didn't kill me too bad on power ( 3gs )

Well i went ahead and did it, seems to have worked.. Tho cydia keeps timing out 1/2 the time. But it did install it and i could browse. So far noting else has stopped working.

Figured i could always restore the phone ( and add my music again... ) if it did go south

I'm just a bit upset that was our only choice for jailbreaking. I greatly prefer rolling my own firmware bundle with pwnagetool and restoring to a "fresh" start. I finally got the server to load after 7 hours of trying very early this morning. Oh well.

...also, is anybody else having trouble getting the "modmyi" repository to actually load? I can't seem to be able to get anything off of that server...my requests are constantly timing out.

The traffic on all of these servers is insane. Both jailbreakme.com and the backup jailbreakme.modmyi.com refused to load for about 6 or 7 hours early Monday morning, just a few hours after the site(s) went live to begin with. It wasn't just slashdot that had headlines about this subject. Engadget also had a feature dedicated to their [mostly failed] attempts to jailbreak three iPhone 4s. As it turns out, they finally got the software properly downloaded and loaded onto one phone after a few hours.

Right now I'm having issues with some repositories not loading in addition to finding that a lot of my favorite apps from 3.X.X or even 2.X.X haven't been ported to iOS4. Overall, I'm fairly disappointed...but I suppose this is better than nothing?

EDIT: Huh, lost a rating...interesting.
