Hooters Girl is a legal registered trademark. Court of Appeals already upheld Hooters position years ago based on that, and on being able to dismiss employees for not meeting up the THEIR standards. They follow same rights as Playboy Bunnies, Cowboy Cheerleaders and Rockettes. She was given a free 30day pass to a gym and told to show improvement to her weight or be terminated. They did the same thing to a couple of girls here. Those 2 quit.
I saw a video report on this and the reporter spoke with the manager. A male who weighed ?300lbs?. Not saying the girl should get a pass. However, they did show her also and she slowly spun around. She looked good enough.

Ya I know some BIG boys managers. The thing is the waitresses are the trademark and their generally supposed to fit the mold of an above average looking college girl. No one would buy Playboy magazine if the playmates weighed in at 175 pnds. You have to face it, most guys go to Hooters to gawk at pretty girls. Food isnt all that good and its more expensive than a nice sit down restaurant. Thats why I started going . Now I go because a lot of them are now closer friends that just hang out with. I just went out to dinner with one last nite ive known for 5 years.

Meh, it's a requirement for her job. The Military does this all the time IIRC, and it's not a big deal there.

Right, she did agree to it when she was hired. And as long as those places are in the minority, i think its ok. now if ALL restaurants started doing it, we can talk.

Personally i don't care what they look like, as long as they bring me food and are attentive to needs like refills and napkins. I'm there to eat.. If you want to 'window shop' there are there places for that.
The article said "vote with your dollars". I already do. Hooters is terrible. The food sucks and is pricey for the quality. I also don't like woman putting their "box" on my leg trying to hustle me for tips.

One on left before definately. One on right looked like her in the new broadcast. Her arms are as big as my legs. We had one here so 'plump' we called her a woosle because she wobbled but couldnt fall down. While I know lots of very nice overweight, even extremely so, girls....there just not appropriate for the job description. My current fav girl weighs 130 pnds too and 5'7. looks a lot thinner than her. The weight number doesnt always transfer over to physical size. Theres another girl who even professionally models and is 5'10 and shes over 150 pnds and looks good.

Most likely still there... new building, I think. They had good fried pickles last time I went (around 3 years ago). Haven't been to the 'Boro in a while. It's livened up in the last few years.

if ya play it right, sometimes that "box" ends up a lot higher than the leg--even with hooters girls and/or "dancers"..........
if ya play it right. Not liking it being rubbed on you.....is a very bad game plan, unless your goal in one of those bars was to read a book. I kinda figure if I want to read, I'll go to the library.

It was on the news at the time, and my 2 sons that live in Moore confirmed it. It was like 5-10 years ago. I dont know if you could find anything on it now. Im sure Hooters wouldnt give you any info . I remember the news saying they were raided and closed for ' prostitution '.

I didn't know the Ruckus was to be here this year. Tom Myers has my car right now and hopefully I will be attending in a car this year. Who is in charge of this? I might be of some assistance for the cruise and attractions portions. I also have a shop where we could possibly do something with.

(myFOXDetroit.com Staff Reports) - Hooters officials fired back today at a former server who says she was put on probation for being overweight.
Twenty-year-old Cassie Smith of Roseville filed a discrimination lawsuit against the restaurant franchise last month, claiming she was told to join a gym and required to lose weight. In her suit , Smith claims that she is a victim of weight discrimination, a civil rights violation under Michigan law.
"Hooters is very calculating. They're very sophisticated," Attorney Mark Bernstein said. "This is a company that has 17,000 women in this position. They have three sizes of uniforms... small, extra small and extra, extra small."
Smith, who is 5' 8" and weighs 132 pounds, claims she actually weighed 10 pounds heavier when she started the job over two years ago.
Hooters official discredit the claim saying that the franchise does not impose any weight requirements. They made a statement and took questions at their Roseville location Wednesday. The company says Miss Hooters International Raechel Holtgrave , along with several other Hooters girls, will tell their personal stories as well. (We'll have an update shortly)

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Leanne Convery is suing Hooters and claiming she was fired because she didn't lose enough weight. It's the second weight discrimination lawsuit in recent weeks. Also Wednesday, three Hooters girls and a company representative from Atlanta defended the restaurant chain's image.
Three Hooters hotties from St. Louis, Atlanta and Michigan were front and center at a press conference in Roseville defending the restaurant chain now facing twin weight discrimination lawsuits.
"I take pride in maintaining the Hooters girl image," said Erica Whitaker from Atlanta.
"That's part of the Hooters girl appeal that they are so selective," said Raechel Holtgrave from St. Louis. "It makes being a Hooters girl so special to us, and over the past three and a half years that I worked at Hooters no one has ever asked me how much I weigh."
Holtgrave is Miss Hooters International 2009. She and the other girls say the company promotes good nutrition, fitness and a healthy lifestyle. However, 20-year-old Cassie Smith tells a different story. The 5'8" waitress who weighs 132 pounds says she was put on probation and told to go to the gym to keep her job in Roseville.
"These women proceeded to explain to me that I had 30 days and they would give me a free gym membership, and if I didn't improve within those 30 days, I would be separated from the company," she said.
"We didn't terminate her. We didn't suspend her. We didn't take any action against her," said Hooters Marketing Vice President Mike McNeil.
However, another former waitress at the Roseville restaurant says she was fired for not losing enough weight. Leanne Convery filed a lawsuit on Wednesday.
"This is their corporate model that they put young women, I think, in a very unhealthy situation," said attorney Richard Bernstein, who is handling both lawsuits.
Bernstein says the company is violating Michigan civil rights employment law, which prevents discrimination based on weight. Another women, who was also a waitress in Roseville, is making more disturbing claims in a sworn affidavit.
"I've witnessed drug deals going on in Hooters, girls buying Adderall from customers and each other," said former Hooters girl Melissa Jacquemain.
She says the women took the drugs to control their weight to meet standards.
5' 8", 132lbs.? Bwahahahahahahahahahaha! If the company is in the wrong, then so be it. But there is NO way that girl weighs 132 elbows! Bwahahahahahahaha! Anyone want to by a bridge?

Girl friend is a friend you go out with, hang out with or whatever. Girlfriend is a relationship where neither of you go out with anyone else.
Mmm. Local terminology must be different were your from. Here in CA only girls say, "girlfriends" and is never used by males--unless they're gay (not that there's anything wrong with it).

Michigan has a pioneering law that prohibits discrimination based on weight. The 1976 law also bans discrimination based on age and height.
Hooters of Roseville Inc. and Atlanta-based Hooters of America Inc. say the law shouldn't apply because their waitresses are entertainers whose appearance is a legitimate concern.
Macomb County Circuit Judge Peter Maceroni on Monday denied Hooters' request to dismiss the suit because the waitresses had signed an arbitration agreement.
Maceroni says the women may not have knowingly waived their right to sue.
