Mine didnt. I was just watching this and it made me sick. I would have been soo friggen happy with the truck. Just spray bomb it black and have a nice truck. No body knows how to work for a dollar any more. Just want something for free all the time.
I think his mom got it right when she called him a spoiled little brat. I also can't believe he had the nerve to threaten people with the baseball bat. He definitely needs an attitude adjustment.
That said, my dad bought me a '69 Camaro as a high school graduation present. It was pretty beat up, but who cares? I drove the crap out of that thing (and eventually wrecked it).

My parents did buy my first car.....it was a 1979 Honda Civic 1200 hatchback. Bought the summer of 1988 for the princely sum of $712.88 (tax included). I loved that car!
As for that video.....the kid's a douche. That was a perfect vehicle for a 16 year old to learn on......just rattle can some paint on it and it would have been good to go. Looking at the other cars in the family though, it looks like he was expecting something newer and fancier. If I had taken a bat to the car my parents bought me my dad would have grabbed it out of my hand mid-swing and beat the **** out of me (which is something that this kid desperately needs).

My uncle gave me an old beater. I love that car. My mom did help me get some cars in the past, she bought me a Fiero after mine was totaled Moms are so cool.

Let me think about that, been a long time. Eight children, dad drove taxis, too poor to ever eat out, mom was a home maker, lived in the projects. OK, I just remembered.

In the early 80's at 15 i had a 68 Roadrunner and 68 Firebird. Paid for both myself. ( and repaired/painted/etc myself.. Dad had a body shop back then so it was a good learning experience )

While driving home from work one day, he came upon a family of 5 or 6 in a 56 Chevy (two tone paint, faded very badly but not too rusty, the interior was crap) that was broke down on the road. Dad, being a good samaritan stop to see if he could assist. The car had a blown engine, oil shooting out where oil ain't supposed to be. Anyway, Dad offered to take the family home but, didn't have the ability to tow the car. BTW, the family lived over a hundred miles away. Anyway, the father told my Dad that if he'd haul them home, he could have the car. Dad took them all home, gave them some money, I don't know how much, and told me I could have the car. Three months later, the car had a new (used) engine and I had my first car. Nope, Dad didn't put a penny into fixing the car but yeah, I guess he got me my first ride.

My parents encouraged me TO GO BUY ONE WITH MY OWN MONEY.
They knew it would teach me the value of a dollar. I earned money and I purchased a car. Needless to say, I took care of that car I insured it, I paid the bills on it, and I learned how to fix it if it broke. My parents did one heck of a job teaching me what good solid values are.
It was a 1973 Chevy Camaro Z-28.

My first car? I bought it with the insurance money I got from a car wreck. I was in someone elses car when the kid wrecked while having three other people with him.
The second one he co-signed for, but I kept the payments up. Does that count?

Nope. I inherited the Toyota pick-up from my older brother, which I actually bought... but the first car I purchased, for me, was a 85 Fiero SE needing brake lines and a clutch for $850. Got it fixed up and my parents drove it more than I did I was stuck driving either a Chyrsler Sebring or a Plymouth Neon, both of which where brand new. I prefered the Fiero Anyway, that kid really needs, I don't know, just wow. I am speechless on that one.

My dad had a 67 Mustang convertible which he let me drive during my high school years, and I could do to it what I wanted with the agreement that whatever I did would be reversible, and I could put the car back to stock. I didn't get my own first car until after I had graduated. I was in a motorcycle wreck (my future brother in law's bike, and the other driver's fault), and I got a settlement for pain and suffering. My dad told me that we could go look for a car for me, now that I had some money in the bank. I bought a 1970 Mustang Mach 1...50,000 miles, one owner, which I paid the grand total of $1710 for.

I bought my first car for $300. My second car was a hand me down from my father. I had it for eight years. I then bought my first new car and had that one for nine years. The mother did tell the kid he could beat the truck up, what she should have told him was that he would still have to drive it afterwards. I guess he was expecting a new truck, after seeing the expensive vehicles they had in their garage and driveway. What he did was wrong. Any running vehicle is better than walking.

Hell no. All my cars have been bought and paid for with my money. Most of them were bought with money I made from the previous vehicle (I know how to trade up )
My first car was a 225k mile 84 Cherokee. Beat to piss and rusted to **** . Worse than the truck in the video. I'd have given my left nut to have a truck given to me by my parents for my 16th birthday. But we were made to actually work for our things as growing up, and we weren't spoiled little punk kids like the one in the video.
Had I pulled a stunt like he did with the baseball bat, I'd be permanently chewing on aluminum. My dad woulda grabbed me by the back of the skull, flipped me upside down, and that bat would've been buried so far up my ass that I'd taste it of a month. I'd look like a friggin' human popcicle and be walking funny for a year.
Un-freaking-believable what this kid pulled. Take his ass out behind the woodshed and beat some sense into him. While you are at it, duct tape the parents to the driveway and use them as human speed bumps.
Its not so much the kids fault though. Blame the parents for spoiling the hell out of him when he was young. This is why if I ever have kids, and I ever come into large sums of money, I will give 90% of it away. I don't want to live rich. I've met the people who do and 99% of them are douchebags. For example, ever met a Lexus driver that isn't a complete and utter prick?

Technically, No. They did however buy a 85 Chrylser LeBaron I was allowed to use effectively as "my car" but it was not mine. When I graduated Highschool, I went and bought myself a 84 Nissan Kingcab 720 mini-truck. At which point I gave my parents the keys to the LeBaron and they took it and traded it in on a 89 Camaro Convertable.

With a Hummer, that big Iron Hide transformer truck, and a Hugger Orange Challenger, it's no surprise he's spoiled. Thats over 150K in vehicles alone. I imagine he is only mimicking what he sees everyday. He probably thought they were gonna pass the Hummer down to him. I wouldn't be surprised if that whole video was staged either.
Jim
BTW, I bought my first vehicle myself. Although it was extremely underpriced. I bought my Grandparents 77 Ford LTD for $1000. I made 10 $100 payments.

I drove my dad's Fieros for a little while. I still had to ask to use them, but there was rarely a "no." It wasn't until later that I bought my own Fiero to make it my official first car.

I bought my Cobra II with my own money when I 14-16, I had the money but it took a while for my brother to take it all, it was considered mine before I bought it. I still haven't even driven that car on the road yet.
I then got my Fiero as a graduation present. I was suppose to get cash instead, so it is still like I bought it.
Then I bought my Blazer with my first real job's money.
I would have been very grateful to get that truck to drive when I was 16. I didn't end up driving till I was 18 and got my Fiero

My dad split the cost 50/50. I don't think that having your parents buy your car is necessarily a bad thing, but I hate when people are bratty about it. Some situations also call for getting a car from your parents. IE: Your job requires you to be there when your parents can't take you. Therefore, to make money, you need the car.

Actually, yes. My dad bought me my first car. It was understood that it was a gift for some accomplishment(I fail to remember what off the top of my head), and he told me I had $500 to spend and anything over that I had to cover out of my pocket, and all expenses related to the car were mine and mine alone. I got my license in '99 and gadiated in '02. I was awarded the $500 toward my first car in '98 and didn't actually spend it until '00. I borrowed my dads truck to go to work and whatnot and I passed a used car lot owned by a guy my dad knew at the time and one afternoon on my way to work I see a car out front that I hadn't seen on his lot before, and it catches my eye like no other car had.
Needless to say, I stop in and talk to the guy about it and what he wants for it, totally oblivious to what it is. I call work, tell them I'm going to be late, go home and get my dad and go over to the lot and when he sees what I want he almost falls out of the truck laughing. We go in and talk to the guy about it, he wanted $800 for it, but dad talks him down to $500, which is what I was awarded. Less than 1/2 hour later I'm driving to work in my new(to me) 1979, bone stock, factory original, nearly mint Ford Pinto. I almost wish I still had that car. The little 4 banger with the 3spd auto would not die. I wound up totaling it the following winter on an icy road and the insurance money(yes, I paid for full coverage) allowed me to buy my stepdad's 1990 Jeep Comanche P/U with the 4.0 I6. So technically you could almost say my dad bought me my first 2 cars... almost... right?

Mine did also. When I was 15 and interested in learning how to maintain my own car my parents bought me an early birthday present. An 1984 Chevrolet Chevette for $500 from my uncle. It ran like a champ, I wish I would have never gotten rid of it. I've had 5 cars since then that I've bought myself (I'm 23).
As far as the video, what a spoiled piece of **** . "Making me look like a poor kid in front of all my friends!" Does he not realize that he is poor as ****...his parents are the ones with the money, not him! If I took a bat to something my parents bought me I would have gotten NOTHING except an ass kicking.
If my parents had given me that truck I would bomb it flat or suede black and go from there, I love that body style S10. I would have been and was happy with any car my parents bought me.
Edit to add: I just watched the video, his grandma is awesome, if he were my kid he would be getting himself straightened out really quick...

Yep...indirectly. They bought a 92 Geo Metro for my older brother. They paid $300 for it. I got it a couple years later. 3 cylinders, 1 liter. 5 speed. Rusted so bad you got wet when it drizzled. Gas filler neck was rusted through, so you had to be careful filling it up, and it leaked gas if you turned too hard. My brother had put red silver and blue sparkles on it for July 4th, and the sun made them permanent. So by the time I got it I had a rusted blue Geo with pink and silver sparkles(blue wasnt really visible and red faded..yay...) O, the antenna was manual pull, the heater had to be run to keep it from over heating, the radio...well, it worked, kinda. I aimed one of the wiper fluid nozzles to the side so I could shoot my friends...worked incredibly well... I had a lot of fun in that car. If I had the back seat filled, if everyone shifted suddenly in the same direction on the highway the car would drift 5 feet to the side. Scary as hell. Girls hated it. I think my parents planned it that way, so it would prevent me from getting anyone pregnant in HS. hehe..
My Mom bought my first car, it was a 1976 Pontiac Astre.(against dad's wishes) 3 engines and a tranny later (3 years) it went to Pontiac heaven.I wish I knew how to do engine upgrades before I junked her. I would still have it less the Vega engine of course. The original owner rust proofed it and the body was solid.
Sorta. My father told my brother and I: if we would spend our summer vacation from school, building fences around 124 acres instead of getting summer jobs, he would buy us each a car.
He did--paid $350 each for 2 1964 Ford 4 doors with over 100K miles on each. 6 cyl auto-------surplus City of Houston police cars. Didn't even have an am radio. It beat walking. I kept mine 3 years then bought myself a vette.

Wow. He definitely is spoiled. At one point he says "you are making me look poor in front of my friends."
Well, guess what kid. You have no job. YOU ARE POOR. Go to work, make a living, and buy what you want.
It's really the parents fault however. I bet this kid has never gone wanting for anything in his life.
My parents didn't buy me a car exactly. My first car was a 1980 Ford Fairmont wagon. My grandfather gave it to me. In the spring of 1995. It had big rust holes, no finish, and didn't run so hot. It would otherwise been junkyard bound. I worked that summer, and put my money into saving for insurance, paint, and bondo. I sanded that car down, cut out the rot, fiberglassed in the holes, filled in the smaller rust. Bought the paint and got my uncle to spray it for me, and ended up with a decent looking and running first car.
It lasted about 6 months before it really just fell apart mechanically and I junked it. I didn't spend a ton on it, and I bought a much newer and nicer car (5 year old Ford Probe hatch) with my savings. However, I worked hard to get it going, and even more important, I learned how to work on cars, both mechanically, and with body and paint on that old clunker. I am no master technician, and I am not going to lay down the best paint job the world has ever seen, but I am thankful that I can do most of my own repairs, and have done a rather convincing job at repairing body damage and painting body panels which match and look very close to factory.
wow what an idiot. get a job thats a great truck to learn on and work with. s10s are so reliable and easy to fix. Given to most people that thing would only take a few months of hard work to turn around. My first car I got was a hand me down 85 cavalier from my dad primer all over. It may have not been pretty but got me to and from school and work.

To answer the question: Yes. My Father gave me a '87 Civic Hatchback for high school graduation. No radio, No AC, leaky radiator, but I loved it... right up to when some iIlegal immig... ahem, I mean undocumented worker creamed it from behind, then ran like a coward leaving me and my totaled car stranded in the street.
As for the video: I call shenanigans. The camera guy (kid) spend a little too much time showing the viewer all the relatively expensive cars (Hummer, Huge pickup, Charger) in the driveway before showing the beater (soon to be beaten) pickup... just reeks of fakeness to me...

my dad paid for half of my first car - he picked it out. I ended up with a 1986 Oldsmobile Calais (not a cutlass calais, just calais). Iron duke, 3-speed auto, 2 door, rusty blue in color. It ran and I put a CD player in it and I was set. He told me if I wanted anything else to go buy it myself but if I sold the car for proceeds he got half. I should have stuck with the olds, but I came across a 92 Cavalier Z24 with a 5-speed and "had" to have it.
Technically the olds was my first car and my dad did pay for half of it, but I didn't have it that long and everyone remembers my Z24 which I paid for fully, so I usually say that was my first car.
My parents did give me their 89 Grand Am right after I got out of high school. I would not count that just because the dealers said they flat out would not take it as a trade due to the condition and miles so it kinda just ended up in my name so they didn't have to pay insurance on it They gave it to me with around 225,000 miles on it thinking I wouldn't make it through the first tank of gas. I put on another 30,000 miles until the tranny went.
edit to add: that kid swings like a girl

My grandmother and grandfather gave me my honda And while i did love and cherish that car i did drive it like a sports car and ran it into the ground a bit. My grandma said she expected that and thats why they gave it to me. But i was very grateful to have 4 wheels and a motor than. My firebird i saved up and bought and love it to death funny story behind that because my dad told me about it and he knew it was slightley out of my price range and when i called them up to work out a deal they dropped the price about $2500 over the phone so i think my dad may have set that one up, but it now needs to go. my 2 fieros and everything i have done to them was done with my own money and im very proud of them. Now my grandma wants me in a more practical car to drive daily and as a gift before she passes shesaid i have to sell my firebird and she is going to be helping me buy a newer car after i sell my firebird. This kid is oviousley an ungrateful peice of sh*t who dosent even deserve a bicycle It might not be nice but as they said its 4 wheels and a motor and it runs. Most 16 year olds are glad to have even that.

If that were my son hed be having to tell all his friends why the back of his truck were all dented up... Then he really would look like an idiot.
I was given my first car, a 1952 willys M38 army jeep that I rescued from under a tree. Drove it for a while till my parents dropped 500 on a non running 87 4runner for me. Awesome truck! Still drive it quite a bit.
I have bought and maintained my Fiero. I would have been happy with anything my parents helped me with and I have not let them down.
This kid might as well walk for a while, I sure as hell would not drop another penny on a loser like that. Would not help with insurance either, not a chance.
