So they called me today, asking. They called me from Utah.
Upon cross examination, intensive cross examination, I learn that my donation would be sent to my local chapter. ? Sent to my local chapter's lodge, ?
That's after I learn that my donation was for training, extra equipment, etc, etc. "Hey, they need your support" I was told. I also discovered that I was speaking with a call center, soliciting for the Fraternal Order Of The Police.
Stay away from the Fraternal Order Of The Police, we pay taxes.
The call center let slip that they were not a union. They then did admit that the Fraternal Order Of The Police was a union.
George Washington, on turning down the offer to be the King of America, after saying hell no, he warned us. "Beware of political parties." A union is such a scourge.

Roommate worked at one of these. He made a high percentage, and the center made good bucks. I got a good laugh when I heard how much (little) the fraternal order received.

But you get the cool sticker that you can put in your car window, then you can be part of the cool crowd.

Imagine all of the money you would save by donating, Cliff. All of those tickets you will get out of by having that sticker.

When I lived in Orange County, CA some years back Got ask for a donation for officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty.
I asked how many in the last five years had fallen.
Well just one, but the family needs help was the reply.
I ask if the one was the officer while on his way to work, tried to make the corner doing 80 on his motorcycle.
Yes that was the one!
I said get each officer do donate $5/month and the family won't need help, and please tell them to slow down and they won't be the next one.

I get more clout with my "Texas State Troopers Association" sticker. I even get extra bonus points 'cause I have one from every year since 2001.
[sarcasm] Now, if the Fraternal Order of the Police really needed the money, they could sell tickets for a dunking booth. Full of hot coffee and they could eat doughnuts. [/sarcasm]
Kidding aside, I can't even remember the last time I had a ticket. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for our police force. Just like our military heros.
