That makes sense. I am using a SanDisk.

Now have a SanDisk card in it and no skipping! Tried out the car mount today when I went out to get a pizza but about midway on the trip (both ways) the camera stopped recording by itself. The timings were just random, going to was at a stopsign after about 13 minutes of recording, and coming from was driving down a highway and that only recorded about 3 minutes. Maybe I need to put some foam on and try to stop vibrations or jarring that might be affecting it. It also was not on a full charge (had it at Great America again Saturday), so I'm charging it now and hopefully it will run longer when I try it again this evening.

I ended up buying a different camera, an MD80 clone, as I liked the fact that it comes with a bunch of attachments. I'm sure the innards of the camera are very similar if not identical to the Gum Cam.

I use a 4 GB class 6 microSD card with it.

The video quality is pretty good, but one thing that really pisses me off is if the camera is left on until the battery gets too low, it powers down and the AVI file is not saved correctly. The file size shows up as "0 kb", although Windows properties will show that the flash card has 1-2 GB of something on it. I think what happens is that the header for the AVI file is not written properly, and therefore the recording is inaccessible.

I've tried several different photo recovery software applications, but nothing appears to work. Any smart cookies out there have any suggestions?

Here's what the camera looks like...

The price... Without a flash card, I paid $6 for it on eBay. I've seen them go for as little as $2, and that includes shipping!

My GumCam does that as well if the battery runs out.

Got any links?

I also bought a smaller cam for the same price as the gum cam that had about the same specs listed. So far the picture and video quality is noticeably better.

Just do a search on eBay using the two words... MD80 camera

Perhaps narrow your seach for the ones offered with free shipping.

There are gazillions of them for sale from Hong Kong/China.

Finally put it to use a couple of weeks ago... ran it on a full charge and it still shut off after only 45 minutes of recording.
