15 years ago today I woke up and turned on the TV expecting to see another day of OJ trial coverage...

Instead I saw total carnage....

On April 19,1995 Timothy McVeigh bombed the Alfred P. Murrah federal building. Until 9/11 it was the largest domestic terrorist attack on US siol.

Take some time to remember today, and maybe even say a silent prayer if your so inclined.

I would have been about 9 at the time. I was living in Tulsa and saw the news coverage on a TV that the teachers were watching. I only had a glimpse and I was young so I didn't really knew what had happened. It wasn't until after I had gotten home that my mom told us kids what had happened and we watched the news.

My moms sister and her family lived in Oklahoma City at the time and felt the shockwave from the blast. My uncle worked in one of the buildings across the street from the Murrah building and had all the glass in his office area blown in. He was ok, but several of his coworkers had to go to the hospital for stitches from the glass. Their neighbor was killed though. They ended up going to 7 funerals as my uncle knew quite a few of the people that worked there.

Although I was very young, I remember the news coverage, the body count, the hunt for the bombers, the lines of cars going to the red cross centers for people to donate blood...

If you can make it to the memorial thats there now, its worth seeing.

For some reason, April seems to be a bloody month. There have been several tragedies during this month. Waco, Columbine, the WV campus shootings. I don't pretend to understand what drives these things. But yes, I clearly remember this day.
