PLEASE dont turn this into a flame war....
what are your thoughts on Energy Drinks? personally, i think for the more extreme ones such as the Monster Energy BFC (Big F'ing Can. honest to god thats the real name lol), there should be an age limit. otherwise, drink on. Monster is my favorite drink. not for the Energy, as caffeine unfortunately has little to no effect on me...but for the taste and how it feels going down the pipe. my father HATES energy drinks for what they are, not for their taste. he has a heart condition, so is biased against caffeine.

now its your turn. thoughts?

Last year I was drinking 6+ red lines a day. Its like crack in a bottle. I personally think they are crap. The amount of sugar in monster/rock star is insane! They are also way to sweet for my taste (why I drank red line). I traded off 20 dollars a day on enegery drinks for a extra hour of sleep. I have completely cut out soda and enegery drinks out of my diet. And I phicaly feel better. The only enegery drink I drink now is green tea. Or eat breakfast. But the rock star lemonade taste sooooo friggen good

I hate them (true story) I used to work the night shift as a security guard. It was me and 2 other guys and i was the last one there for my shift. This job was all about keeping youself awake and that was very hard to do when there is nothing to do. So i drank redbull. Red bull would give me that extra kick to get me through till the end of the shift but when i started comming down off of it i turned into a total grouch you couldent even say good morning to me without some kind of vulgar remark back to you. They do affect you some good some bad.

I owe my life to Red Bull, cigarettes and a shitload of beer. Indeed, I've calculated how much time I have left on Earth and it's not much.

i guess im lucky then. i can drink a Monster BFC and go right to bed and sleep normally. only time (not including in childhood) caffeine affected me was my sophmore year in highschool i had bought some caffeine candy, that had about the same caffeine in one piece as a few monsters. i was seriously tweeking everytime i had one lol. good thing it was only a four pack xP.

(just fyi, i hear an apple in the morning works better than a cup of coffee)

and, if you compare the taste and texture of redbull side by side with monster, redbull tastes like a watered down Monster (to me at least)

I just polished off a BFC not too long ago. I seem to rotate between them. I started with Red Bull a long time ago, then went to Amp when it first came out. Then I went to Monster, back to Amp and finally wound up back at Red Bull. I still drink Monster and Amp occasionally, but Red Bull is by far my favorite. Amp is more of a soft drink to me...it's too sweet and doesn't really do much in the way of keeping me awake.

have you tried Venom? the orange colored one is amazing... or have you tried Nitrous Monster? priced closer to Redbull, at $3 for a 12oz can. WAY sweeter than a normal Monster, and a LITTLE dry (even tho the can adverts it as "super dry"). amp is ok. i think the best mild-evergy drink was Mountain Dew MDX. Vault has an odd taste, but in a pinch ill drink it...

anyone know what the energy drink is that comes in a small 8oz bottle shaped like a grenade? stuff tastes kinda like monster mixed with vault.
also, anyone tried monster mixed with vodka? always wondered how that tastes

I read an interview with the owner of red bull and he admitted to drinking 15 to 20 of them a day! How does this guy ever sleep!

i find it hard to believe him, simply because he owns the company lol. but, if its true, he will surely feel the effects years down the road lol

Nope, but it goes quite well with Jager. That's all I drank, all summer about 2 years ago. Delicious.

Oh, and my buddy works for Red Bull...he handles distribution for the Northeast. He houses more than 3 cases (24 pack commercial cases) a week. Then again, he gets them for free.

Id drink redbull all day if I got it free, but id never pay for it. Only had it once, in july last year. Went with gf at the time, her mom and her sisters to the dells. Her and her mom LOVE the stuff, so that's what they brought to drink. I stand by my opinion that it tastes like a diluted monster lol :P

When I was involved in the Red Bull Driver Search in 2004 I had my own personal 3 foot Red Bull can shaped cooler stocked to the brim by some hot Red Bull chicks in my pit. I drank 16 in one day at the East Bridgewater Mass. eastern runoffs. I though my heart was gonna turn inside out.

Used to love drinkin' 'smart drinks' in raves back in the 90's - so damn good. some energy drinks are good, had almost every one out there. too much sugar, though. I cut waaaaaay down. maybe 1-2 a week, now. I miss them, though. Not a big fan of the lo-carb ones...

The government will regulate them, in the future. Just like everything else, there will be regulation because they are not safe in high doses. Same thing for coffee, that will be regulated. All of you who doubt this just need to look at alcohol and tobacco....

I have thrown 3 in my belly. And, they performed as advertised.
as a normally non-caffinated person, not even sodas, they lit me right up.

I am a normally energetic person, with a decent metabolism, so this stuff dont do much day-2-day. for recreational buzzes - I prefer to slow down, not speed up.

but, to quickly squelch a buzz, so I can drive home: perfect.

Monster Java IF I drink anything.

Time to throw some math into this thread:

One monster java white russian + one monster java irish creme + plus one monster java mean bean + 1 monster java vanilla bean + 1 16oz bottle of Bawlz guarana, all in succession within 20 minutes = a recipe for intestinal disaster. Ask me how I know Thats what you get for trying to stay awake on a 3.5 hour drive straight through at 4 am after working a 16 hour day prior. Hours of service laws my arse

Needless to say, the lady at the gas station didn't like me after that too much. Especially when I asked her for the plunger and disappeared to the womens room (since the mens was occupied )

Lol, you'd be surprised how strongly some people are against energy drinks...

What's the deal with those 5 hour energy things? I think they are bull. My buddy had one of those, 2 redbull, a monster and a venom all within ten minutes, trying to stay awake to drive us home from michigan. He was still ready to pass out, only difference was he felt ill lol

Frontal Lobe? What are your thoughts?

I think energy drinks are primarily bad for you. Liquid adrenaline basically. How many times do you thinkg you can artificially adrenalize yourself and not have long term side effects? We might find out in 10-20 years..

What about people like me, who don't "feel" the effects? Do our bodies process caffeine/sugar differently or something? I know in the long term caffeine is bad, but I don't feel theeffects of it, so will I still reel the bad side effects down the road?
And the point of andrenalizing yourself, by that logic, people who use epi-pens will also suffer negatively down the road. Is that true? Not being a smartass, these are all sincere questions

i used to think that caffeine didn't affect me. after i had my appendix out, the doc told me to stay away from carbonated drinks. i didn't drink coffee back then so i was pretty much caffeine free for about 2 months. i was really surprised on how much better i slept, before i could usually fall asleep right away and thought i was getting a good night's rest but man i was missing out! i felt a heckuva lot better in the morning and during the rest of the day for that matter.

just my $.02

Great input (not sarcasm lol). But lol, I've had a three month period with no caffeine and a year long period. My sleep didn't change a bit. But for what its worth, the three months I had no electricity in 90+ degree weather, and the year was spent in camp grounds, hotels, and a homeless shelter..so if caffeine messes with my sleep, during those periods something else took its place lol.

Didn't think this thread would turn out this good lol xP

And the point of andrenalizing yourself, by that logic, people who use epi-pens will also suffer negatively down the road. Is that true? Not being a smartass, these are all sincere questions

this is much like people who smoke a joint, and wait for the buzz. it is not quantifiable. while I suppose it is possible that you are built different from all us other meatsacks, but, I'd more be inclined to think you are looking to hard for "the buzz".

Same can be said for caffeine and sugar (diabetes)... It is all about moderation.

I don't drink energy drinks for energy. Some peoples bodies process things differently. Smoking a joint and gettin a lil buzz is different than chuggin 72ounces of monster in 20 minutes. Everybody shhould feel that, you can't "expect" it away anymore than you can getting drunk

I am not doubting you at all. But, not sure what it is you think you are supposed feel? racing heart, shaky hands, ADD - these symptoms are mighty subjective, and depending on your "normal" state, may not be fully noticable. also, much has to do with your age & physical condition. but, to think you are immune is a mistake.
