Anyone know where I can find a chart showing the approx trajectory drop per 100 yards for the entire range of a standard 22LR bullet?

Yeah, I don't think it's gonna make it a mile. Maybe if you "lob" it like a mortar.

Seeing that the max range for the 22 LR is about 1 mile you would have to start with an elevation of 45 deg and your drop would then be around 1/2 mile and your grouping would be maybe 2-3 feet.

I always thought a mile was about average. Doesn't the box say 1.5?

I don't have a box around to look at?

Thanks--not exactly what I was looking for but getting closer:

22 LR (40 HP at 1255) .100 -3.0" -40.9" 1.5"@45 90

Drops about 50" @ 200 yards, with mpbr being 90 yards--and tht's at zero elevation--straight line shot. I know it is not accurate to extrapolate from that tho, as the further the projectile travels, and the more angle, the slower the velocity becomes, thus the greater the drop with each succeeding 100 yards travelled.
I really need to find the drop at 220 yds, 440 yds, 880 yds,1760 yds. The round understandably, will most likely be spent at 1760 or before.

One word: Liability

Overstating a round's capability will give people pause before they (inevitably) do something stupid.

Looking to get that thing that goes screach in the night?

http://www.shootingsoftware.com/

http://www.gunsmoke.com/gun...22/22ballistics.html

if you are looking for any power after 200 yards use something just a little bigger.

steve
Sweet setup here Don. I just might make one for fun.

I use a program that I got from Remington's site called Remington Shoot

I don't know if it has rimfire stuff...

http://www.remington.com/pa...rces/ballistics.aspx

I can tell you it is going to be a whole hell of a lot. Not to mention at those distances you have to consider things like the Coriolis Effect abd the rotation of the bullet.

I don't think a round that small will have hardly any kinetic energy left in it by that point.

Just set up some targets at the ranges you are interested in and fire away. I gather you have the room on your property.

As far as 100 yards, I think the drop I see from being zeroed at 50 yards is around 3" or so. It is really hard to tell because the wind messes with a round that light a lot.

Well, actually, I'm shooting "crows" in flight--or at them anyway. Brought down 2 this morning. Elevation varies, but 45 deg sounds about right, Range=100+yards. Altitude-25-200 ft. I really believe, that the rounds are staying impacted on my property, but not sure. Mostly concerned with my nearest neighbors house, not visible to me, which is on a high bluff across the river from me, with govt land between he and I, but I don't want to impact into govt land either--never know who's poking around out there--pot farmers mostly I suspect..

I have a clear sight of fire downrange of about 1000 ft, beyond that, is brush and trees I have yet to clear off.

I am getting almost 1.5 inches of drop at 300' but it is up or down half inch.
At 200yds I get over 4.5 inches.

I extrapolate from where it shoots at 50 feet using the scope dialed up or down.

You don’t have a shotgun?
3” mag or 31/2” should do that

Or just having fun?

Yeah I have a mossberg pump 12 ga--anyone can shoot these "crows" with one of those. My interest is not in getting rid of them, just the challenge of hitting a small moving target with a small inexpensive round at range.

Stew tonight!

Crow Hunting 1.0 - Free Game Download

Try to shoot as many crows as possible in the available time. But caution, in some scenes they will shoot back.

I was wrong about using a rifle on crows- if you really want a challange use a hi power pellet rifle. You can get 500 pellets for about $8
