Hey,
I work for a GM dealership and when trade in vehicles come in with any tuners or performance products when are instructed to remove them. Most of these tuners are deep into the system and garbage. One day we came across a very nice setup, an edge performance eec2200. it just plugs into the OBDII port and thats it. So we removed it and were told to just throw it away, knowing it be worth something I asked to keep it, and they let me have it. So I listed it for sale and sold the tuner, owner calls me and tells me the turner is VIN locked to the previous vehicle. The only way I have found, in searching the net to reset it is either with the original vehicle, which has already been sold and long gone, or send it in and pay $75-100 to unlock it. Is there anyway around this? I would rather not lose the little profit I made on it, because of course I am standing behind the sale and don't want to screw over the owner. I will call the company on monday if I have to and have it sent in for resetting. Any help is appreciated

That's pretty much your only option. For future reference the way to unlock them again is to re-reflash the ECM with the ORIGINAL programming that SHOULD be stored on the scan tool / tuner, That usually unlocks it. I can't speak for all of them, but when you put it in it asks what you want to do and you just tell it to restore original values.

I was also wondering what it did to the car, yanking that thing out without 'resetting' things.. Or once you flash it the 'tuner' is unplugged and tossed into the toolbox?

Either way, it went out with non standard tuning.. cant be a good thing.
