Universal here opened up a new roller coaster called the Rip Ride Rockit... Riders get to pick a music track that plays while the roller coaster is in motion.
I have been on hundreds of roller coasters in my life. I enjoy them. You could say I'm an enthusiast. However! - This one might have been a bit too much! At one point in the ride I actually had tunnel vision. My brother said he experienced the same thing. I have been searching for specs on it for the past hour and have come up empty handed. My best guess is there was more than 1 second of sustained 4+G's, causing the near blackout.
I remember hearing that New Jersey (?) put some limits on roller coaster acceleration. I'm kind of thinking that might be a good idea. Or maybe just post the specs up front so people know what they're getting into! It was pretty intense.

Interesting, considering NJ currently has the tallest/fastest (and most-overrated) roller coaster in the US. I believe, however, the US as a whole has some limit on roller coaster G's in general.

ring°racer out in Germany is expected to take the speed record when it opens. However I thought I saw in the animation they've trimmed the hell out of it so it's going to slow back down after the main launch. http://rcdb.com/4161.htm
At least with Kingda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster the speed is actually meant for something more fun.

Stood in line for Kingda Ka for about 4 hours before it went down for the rest of the day and I had to leave the park; another typical Intamin piece of crap. However, Great Adventure as a whole was going through all sorts of power outages that day, so I didn't get on much. Now El Toro on the other hand...
The next year I rode Dragster at Cedar Point; same design but 8mph slower and about 30 feet shorter, with no camel hump after the tower. Was not too impressed.

I LOVE coasters, but one I really didn't like was a mummy one at Universal. At one point, they suddenly stop the coaster, and everyone gets their necks snapped forward and back. PAINFULLY! went on it again, and same deal, I was expecting it, so it wasn't too bad, but wow, BAD DESIGN!

Top Thrill wasn't too bad. Haven't been on Kingda ka. I still prefer Millennium force I think. It doesn't happen much anymore since they've worked out all the bugs, but the best ride on top thrill are when it doesn't make it over the top the first time.

I rode the rip ride rock-it and didn't find it THAT intense. It was a great ride none the less. I did find the time allocated to pick a song to be pretty short. If you want to feel to real Gs go to EPCOT and ride Mission Space on the intense (Orange) side. I rode it when it first opened and the G force was pretty insane. That one made me feel like I was going to pass out. They have toned it down a bit since then, but it still is pretty intense.

I did Top Thrill Dragster the first summer it was opened. It was fun, but after waiting for several hours, and then to have it over in about 35 seconds, well, whatever. However, I thought that Millennium Force (also at Cedar Point) was a much MUCH better ride, even though it didn't have the immediate rush of acceleration. It was also a nice, long, smooth, high-speed coaster. Thanks to a couple of girls who decided to try to bring their purses on the ride, they got tossed, and we got the front seat, which made it all the better.
Kingda Ka may be the new 'highest fastest', but compared to Top Thrill, there's just not a lot of 'real' difference.

Mission space is a lot of fun. I never had any problems with it, but then your body is positioned perpendicular to the acceleration.
Those fast accelerating coasters are the best. I would love for a theme park to come out with one that zips you up to about 150 or so and just kinda skims around the theme park . No big loops or hills but fast high G turns . Kinda like flying a jet through a canyon type ride, and have the cars setup with just 2 seats per so every rider gets a front seat view.

I try and make Cedar Point yearly tho, my excuse for going (taking the daughter) is running out, now that shes almost 21.....
Top Thrill - yes - long wait - short ride Maverick - wicked whipping Raptor - always first ride in, and last ride out Millenium Force - awesome banked turns pushing into the seats Magnum - negative G pocket emptier
