Well I'm now a dad. About 7 weeks earlier than was expected. My wife has been having a very good pregnancy and wasn't getting morning sickness too bad or often, her blood pressure was always good, everything seemed to be great.
Then last night she wasn't feeling good with a headache and vomiting, but I didn't really think much about it as she was still trying to get over a cold she had a week or two ago. She was finally able to fall asleep and I went to bed a little later and she still seemed fine. Then at about 4:30 this morning I wake up to her hitting and kicking me. I thought she was having a nightmare and tried to wake her up, when I realized she had a bunch of mucus on the outside of her mouth at which point I thought she vomited in her sleep and was choking on it. I got her on her side and proceeded to hit her back trying to get her to spit it out. When it didn't work I turned on the light and noticed she was very stiff and and was having a seizure which she's never had before. Once it stopped, she was having an extremely difficult time breathing and her eyes were bloodshot and wide open, and had blue lips and slightly blue face. She also wasn't responding to me at all.
So after getting her an ambulance to the hospital and waiting for awhile, they just came out and said it was in fact a seizure because she had preclampsia. Though she's been going to the doctor every two weeks and never showed anything out of the ordinary on her tests. So they did an emergency C-Section as the tests they were doing on her were all coming back bad.
Both Katie and our baby Emma Lynn are doing much better now, though they will both be in the hospital for a few days at least. Emma weighs 3 lbs 15 ounces and was born at 7:22 am on October 17th. They don't yet have her length as they are keeping her with oxygen until she starts breathing better on her own.

Now you have to buy the baby the best T-shirt ever made. On the front it says "I ripped Mommy a new one!" I giggle everytime I see that T-shirt. Congrats.
Congratulations man, glad everything turned out ok!
She doesn't remember what had happened. Came in and they had her on magnesium sulfate and valium, then whatever drugs to knock her out for surgery, then finally morphine afterwords.
But now I'm headed back up to the hospital.

Congratulations, I hope there aren't any more complications. It sounds like you had a rough night there. I hope your wife and daughter are doing better.
