Except for a few symbols (NY Yankee 'NY' or the Fiero pegasus) I usually remove the brand when I buy something, if it can be removed without destroying the item. I don't do it obsessively, I just am not into branding. I also don't buy things like a shirt that has some arbitrary number on it,or some scribbling/words that I don't know the meaning to.

I don't think I ever paid more then 30 bucks for a pair of jeans, usually 20-25.

I also hate fake-branding (or cheap knock-offs) when it's obvious... you can TELL it's not the real thing, and it looks like it will fall apart in ten seconds.

Not that I'm 'mr generic' or I dislike 'style', I just don't like feeling like I'm a walking advertisement, know what I mean? 'Subtle' brands are ok, but not when you can read them from across the street...

I once got a "aviator jacket" as a gift. It was covered in patches. I removed most of them , because it just didn't make any sense. NO one would belong to that many groups, and I felt it was kinda insulting to those that actually DID belong to those group(s). Think I left a Tomcat one and a 'Top Gun' one on, though... ( I was a teenager and TG was the popular movie at the time... )

I agree. I refuse to be an unpaid walking billborad for anybody's products. The only shirts I'm happy to wear that have company names on them are from the company I'm working for. If they give me a free shirt, and I wear that type in my off time, I'm happy to advertise their products. They're paying me, and more buisness for them is more for me.

But everyone else? Forget about it. My family knows I won't even wear a Fiero T-Shirt! I love'em, but Pontiac (now deceased, GM) ain't paying me.
