Thanks for remembering Dar............. Today I had a EKG and a pulmonary test. I guess the results of that will be forwarded to Battle Creek after which they will schedule the "radioactive" stuff used in the cat-skan. I guess all the tests are to see if I can handle the surgery........ I KNOW I can......so what is the hold up? One thing I am concerned about is the fact that the stress test they have now { before it was a treadmill} uses a drug to stress the heart. I will keep youosted. Thanks again everybody.

Next appointment is October 21st in Battle Creek. { Really sounds urgent doesn't it?} In the mean time it is soup and instant breakfast and blended fruits and vegetables. Fell like a Gerber poster child. I am losing about two pounds per week. And believe it or not I almost got my Navy white Jumper {shirt } on the other day.
Dar.............Before you go to work you think about me? How nice. I mean that. Worse part of the appointment was drinking the crap that you have to for the imagery to show up on the C-scan. !5 0zs of stuff that tastes like watered down toothpaste. Twice. Once the night before and again in the morning. And a 5oz cup when you check in. I am very unhappy with our local Hospital as I had gone in and was checked on in July and they sent me home saying " We don't know why you are here" My VA doctor will probably call today. If you don't get to answer the phone it automatically kicks out a letter. Next appointment is November 4th for a stress test. Followed November 18th with another scope. Still can't eat. Weighed 192 in February and am now down to 162. My old Navy white jumper is very close to fitting. I must have been a skinny little s--- I will let you know. Thanks again for asking.........Cliff

That is exactly how I feel. I WILL beat it. I have still too much to do. Including work on my Fiero. And now the Trans Am as the transmission went out yesterday.

Praying for you buddy. My better half beat cancer as well. Never give it the chance to get the upper hand, you will get through this. As stated you cant go anywhere your Fiero needs you.
You and your family will be in my family's thoughts and prayers.
Hope you are ok- is there anything you can eat, like protein shakes? I remember they used to blend food and give it to patients, do they still do that???

I am not a patient yet, so have my wife blend : One gala apple and two carrots, then drink the juice from that. {not bad tasting stuff} I also drink a high protein drink my son bought that body builders use to gain weight. I think I heard her right. Suzzanne Sommers was on Larry King last night telling of her experience . They told her she had cancer nad recommended chemo and radiation. Turns out she didn't even have cancer. She has written a book "Knockout}" in which she tells of alternative methods of curing cancer. Chemo and radiation are a 13 billon dollar business. I also saw a video by Dr. Lorraine Day which said a doctor could be fined if he didn"t OFFER chemo. I am at the stage now where I can feel nauseated if I think of food. Not a good thing when you are losing 1 1/2 ponds per week. I am keeping myself busy at work and at home so the only time it bothers me is at night. I tend to get hunger pains { best way to describe it, like cramps} so will drink soup or something when that happens. Thanks for your concern and prayers. I will be around next summer to rollerblade once again..

Hang in there! I still get awful pain in the middle of my gut when my pancreas freaks out. It hurts like a MoFo and I have to take the pain pills and clock out. I can eat, but I have to take small bites and generally eat less more often, and can't have more than 30 grams of fat per day. I'm hungry all the time, too. Gut trouble is no fun at all. I lost about 90 lbs with my ordeal, but that was a good thing for me, since I was nearly 300 lbs. Sometimes I get some Progresso light chicken soup, cook it and strain all of the broth out and eat (drink?) that. That is much tastier than plain chicken broth and has more protein and chicken goo in it. It helps when solid food won't go down. I also have runny cream of wheat made with skim milk for breakfast at times. Keeping the protein levels up really helps.
Good luck.

The only thing foreign being self inserted {keep it clean guys} was a pussy willow I shoved up my nose when I was goofing off. Don't remember ever getting it out!. Now that could be the source.
Best piece of nose that Pussy Willow ever had.
[disclaimer] Not exactly what I wanted to say, but you demanded we "keep it clean".[/disclaimer]
Hug a hot nurse for me .

This is the first time I have seen this thread. Sorry I missed it earlier. I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers.
I've been dealing with the hiatal hernia, as mentioned earlier, for about 18 years. I've never had the surgery to repair it and have been able to control it with medicine. Been through all of the different ones over the years and so far a Nexium a day keeps it livable. They warned me long ago that one of the dangers of it is that it could cause esophageal cancer. So far so good...
A buddy of mine has been dealing with pancreatitis for a couple of years. His symptoms sound a lot like yours. Yours is a bit worse than his though since apparently you can't keep anything down. As long as he eats only certain things he can keep it down. But he went from about 220 down to about 170 in about six months. The shock to his body has caused other ailments to kick in as well. Currently he is doing well and is able to stay on his job as a junior high school principal. He's younger than me, I think he's about 41. But like you, he keeps his spirits up and says he is either going to beat it or give it a helluva ride.

That was barium, the chaulky stuff. It shows up on xrays and they use it to x-ray the GI track. I found out when they gave it to me once that I was allergic to it. I may be the only person on the planet that is allergic to that stuff.
I hope things go well and you recover quickly. We all want to see you around a lot longer.
