Ellie's car Has started misbehaving . Start it in the morning, and it runs ok for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and then starts to misfire badly. Sounds like it is firing on 2 out of 4 cylinders. Removed plug leads one by one, identify which cylinder(s) are misfiring. Put in the plugs from the other two cylinders which WEREN'T misfiring, start her up...and she is still misfiring..but the plugs in the cylinders which WERE working OK start to misfire. So I put in new plugs and a fuel pressure controller..still happens!! It seems to be misfiring, but it isn't always the same cylinders! I then thought maybe the Catalytic Converter might be blocked? Anyway, Ellie says the last time she drove to work it misfired for 15 minutes, then there was a 'big bang'...and it ran perfectly again, until she had to drive home from work 12 hours later Got me beat any ideas? Thanks!

Check the computer codes. If you get none, the computer (ECM unit) may be in need of replacement.

You should get some code something like 8888 if the ECM is normal. ECMs that provide no codes may be bad.

Also: check the ignition system. the WHOLE SYSTEM -- all the components--you may have a bad coil, ignition module or a bad plug or wire.

Finally,

If the cat is bad, run a test pipe.

Good luck with that. There not in the US anymore, and there are no parts available. I had to wait for 7 months to get a headlite for a dealers car until one of my yards I use finally got a line on one. They also said it was pretty much stripped clean the first day in the yard from other people also waiting for parts.
