The AP reports that Huckabee is tops in conservatives' straw vote

The headline is misleading since the first line in the story states: "A straw vote suggests former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is a favorite among religious conservatives to be president in 2012."

What do you think of Huckabee's chance of being nominated in 2012?

Chances are slim and I wouldn't vote for him.

He is a likable guy, but I'm looking for somebody with business experience along with executive experience.

Our next President is going to have to understand economics and business in order for us to get out of this huge mess the leftists and the Democratic Party elites and their cronies has put us in.

Barack Obama isn't going to cut it. He doesn't understand economics nor business and he isn't creative enough to come out with solutions that will help mitigate our domestic problems.

I wasn't really in favor of him during the 2008 campaign (I was leaning towards Rudy), but Mitt Romney is probably somebody I could support in 2012.

I like Mike. I was disappointed when he didn't make the cut last time.

He didn't seem to think he was too smart for the system. Unlike Obama, I think Mike understands that it's not ok to spend more than you take in. I also think he's slightly more beyond the control of special interests, being that he's not coming from business (not a former Haliburton board member).

No, I do not like Mike. If you want a religious conservative who is a savvy business man, go with Mitt Romney.

Even the liberals in Massachusetts loved him.

Mitt Romney gets my vote. Huckabee is a nice guy, but then again so is Pres. Obama.

I would say that pretty well settles that.

Ross Perot! LOL

I like Huck but don't see him being president, to much of a nice guy.

I like Mike a lot, because he's firm, yet level headed. A Huckabee-Palin ticket would be powerful in 2012, but it's unlikely he could get nominated.

I like Mike on a personal level. Seems generally honest and nice.. But his ideas/proposals during the primaries kinda ended any thoughts I had about voting for him.

He's another example of the screwed up National level Republican party.
They've spent so much time trying to "triangulate" that they've compromised on too many core issues are are basically Dem lights.
(although to the left currently in charge, Huckabee and McCain look like Right wing facists)

I don't like Romney for the top slot either. He's got business saavy--but too much Wall St.

What else ya got?

Condi Rice & Huckabee or Condi and Romney perhaps.

The latter would give you a balanced business and foreign policy experience mix.

Doesn't really matter if they don't have answers and a workable plan to cut the deficit.

I don't like Mike Huckabee. He comes off as fake. I can't bring myself to trust anything he says. Mitt Romney isn't much better, especially after getting busted for having illegals landscape his lawn (twice) and he supports gun control.

But this thread is pointless, the media will pick your candidates again

We need a president that understands things on a street level but can apply it to a worldwide scale.
The kind of guy I want wouldn't want to be president.

I want someone that can tell the liberals to shut up and the the Conservatives to **** off.
I want a guy that knows how to extort his opposition into submission then hand his life back to him and say let's try this again my way this time.
I want some one so freaking scary and devious that there would be bipartisanship just because cooperating would be the only way to survive.

I especially want someone that will realize that we need a third world to to sustain a first world.
I want someone that puts manufacturing and exports a first priority and the education and military a close second and third.
I'm looking for a dirty rotten son of a ***** that just doesn't give a damn about the status quo.
I'm looking for the kind of man that probably ain't going to heaven by going through the front gate.
