Was looking for a good overview of mythtv for the wife. This wasn't it, I gave a clue as to where the Fiero remark was, so no one had to watch the idiots.

You did, sorry if I came off sounding like a smart @$$. But, I was interested to hear what was said. It just seemed like it took forever to get there.

Right in the closing statements, right about the five minute mark.
A lot of old people tend to bash the Fiero, but it's really more because they don't really know much about it. Often times, people tend to just assume it's crap because of something they maybe remember from the news. When people see my Fiero, or a picture of it... they're always like... "I didn't know a Fiero looked like that? I thought it was some kind of hatch back or something..."
I think many people equate the name with some kind of late 70s Pinto style car???
I've never had anyone come up to me in person though and tell me that my Fiero was a crappy car... I don't know if that's because I'm 6'3", or if it's because my car looks cool and it's hard to say it's a piece of crap when it clearly doesn't look like it is.
I have been told a couple of times when I was younger... "OMG, did you know these catch on fire? You should be carefull..."

I get the same responses when people see the car.. 1/2 think its the 'new pontiac', or 'don't see them much anymore, they were cool'. Even at work, if people find out i have a couple ( most know by now ) 'i always liked those'...
Its just the uninformed that bash them.

when I had mine someone where I worked told me not to get hit in the backend or it would blow up, appearently thought the gas tank was in the rear and believed what he saw in movies too much.

Is TechTV still on the air? I haven't seen them in a long time, but I don't have cable any more either. I enjoyed watching Thunderbirds with their pop-up comments. Otherwise the programming was so-so... good to watch when nothing else was on.

I remember, before it was TechTv, they had an intern on one of their shows who drove a Black Fiero notch back. It was full of electronic equipment. I think most of it was Ham radio. They didn't diss his car back then.

I had someone at work tell me that I had to be careful and that I should go over 85 or the car will flip over. He said that it used to happen ALL the time in the 80s because there was no motor in the front and it would cause the front end to catch wind which would cause the car to flip backwards when going down the highway.
He swore up and down vehemently about it. He did multiple searches on the internet and found nothing except another guy on some other forum saying that he thought they flipped over too.
I don't understand why people are so dumb. I once ran into this older dude at the junkyard that told me flat out that he knew everything was to know about the Pontiac Fiero, and if I wanted to know anything, I should ask him.
I don't claim to be an expert, never have... but I've had 7 of them, worked on several, and stripped one of them. We started talking about the 3.4 engine, and I mentioned to him that I had thought at one time it might be neat to get the 3.4 out of a 93-95 Camaro, and the guy told me it was a completely different motor and shared no similarities. I told him it was a Gen-1 block, same heads, just needed to have the freeze plug popped out for the distributor and to have a mounting hole drilled for the starter (and the other one tapped). He refused (I didn't want to hang out with the guy long enough for him to go check it out). So I told him to go walk over to the row of 4th gens and check it out.
He then went on to tell me all kinds of other stuff, like 88 Fieros have built in MAF sensors, and some kind of other just off the wall stuff...
Why are people so dumb? And why is it that if a person learns one thing, they seem to think they're an expert???
