I've lived under the shadow of Chicago style politics my whole life, and now that it has invaded the White House I AM SCARED. This won't end well for anyone except those in charge.

But, on the other hand we had a choice between soggy and rotten this last election. I do wish that people understood that it's more the house of reps and senate that mattered instead of the president, though...

As a side note, I'd like to see a national referendum for term limits. These career politicians are so entrenched with "their" agendas that they have totally lost contact with the needs and concerns of the citizens they are supposed to represent. Time to clean house (and senate).

What should be unsafe about saying that you support your President? No, it's the safety and anonymity that allows people to insult that person for their beliefs, when they would likely bite their tongue in real life.

I would not bite my tongue regarding any issue I felt strongly about, but there is a way to disagree without being insulting--tho I would, should someone take a truly idiotic stance on something, tell them to their face I thought it was idiotic.
I have a different take on the silence of those who approve of the president's handling of the economy. I believe they prefer not to be tied down with that approval later down the road--should the actions now being taken prove to be faulty. They want to reserve the right to honestly say "Show me where I ever said I approved of that.".

And perhaps the people who formerly would have spoken their approval have already had their "awshit moment" and don't want to hear the chorus of "I told you so"s.

That is a good theory but also illustrates that they are intelligent enough to know what he is doing is wrong. So "simply" they do not approve. Really, who could? Well, the uninformed might.
Have had a few discussions with my lefty friends about this and their knee jerk reaction is to start talking about Bush and his spending. That doesn't help their position so they start talking about how great Clinton was. I say yup, I really miss Bill Clinton these days, they look surprised and that about ends it.
I disapprove of Congress, the President and what Politics has become as a whole, this use to be a country for the people by the people, now its nothing more than a majority of the other countries on this planet..
Count me in as one of the 1st to be on a rocket ship off of this Rock if and when we ever have the opportunity to colonize another planet, I am hoping it would take at least 40 years or so to screw the next planet up as much as this one has become..

Agreed but, how would it be a death wish for one to say that he approves ?

You do realize that colonies in space would be communal. Pinko commie fairy!
The real problem is that we humans would simply be carrying our sociological baggage and issues with us where ever we go. It's not the Earth that's the problem, it's us.

I always thought they would be a "last man standing" type place. The new wild frontier and all that.
And no, I doubt this place would become a ghost town. People who care the most tend to be able to stay put and endure the most--regardless of the venue or circumstances. Most folks stand their ground come what may. Even if one becomes a refugee or in exile, they fight from afar.

You are right. People don't rate others in OT for their politics. How silly of me.
I don't know of anyone who rates "because of one's politics". Some, I'm sure--rate because of how one chooses to state their views tho--or more to the point--the words they choose to use in opposition of other people's views.

maryjane is right on in my opinion. Myself, I can even get past how they state their views in opposition to the views of others. Even if they attacked me.

Approve. You have no idea where the neo-conservatives were taking your country. Say what you will about his lack of experience, his naive altruism and his fiscal inexperience, he has no ambitions for world dominance and has the will to oppose those who do. He is a lot closer to George Bush Sr. than most of you realize. He will make mistakes, he has admitted that, but to presume he is the leader of a socialist plot to destroy the US is ludicrous. "When I give bread to the poor, you call me a saint, When I ask why the poor have no bread, you call me a socialist". You can't have it both ways, don't complain because your fathers bypass surgery cost him $300,000.00 then complain because free health care will raise your taxes. And don't ask for my prayers, they are all committed to my friends and relatives fighting the taliban in Afghanistan, a war the US could have won except George Bush Jr. wanted to invade Iraq instead. And don't give me that Saddam was evil BS, North Korea has nuclear weapons, viable delivery systems, and is still officially at war with you.
