Anybody know the best place to download a bunch of more-or-less new (say 1990+) country music WITHOUT giving up the CC number or signing up for spam lists, or getting 42,361 friends to sign up, or dealing with 50 bad torrents to get one good one, or any of that junk.
I'm just after the simply way of doing it.
<edit>
Yeah, I caved to society's norms and blew a massive 28 bucks on this

Free music is illegal music. Especially if you're after anything that plays on the radio.
However, tip for torrents: Don't download individual songs, search for the entire album.
yep if you search for the entire album and then when it comes up to download, you can just click the songs you want. You have a great chance of actually getting the right stuff then.

While my views on digital media distribution are - let's say free-flowing - I don't think it's a good idea to bring them up on this forum.
It could open up Cliffy to unwanted traffic (google will index this page and direct free music seekers here), as well as potentially cause somebody to have a gripe with the site and have it brought down.
I agree with previous posters, however, that limewire is the single biggest pile of plop I've seen, causing more grief due to malware than most.

Usenet (aka internet newsgroups) alt-dot-binaries-dot-sounds-dot-mp3-dot-______ (fill in the blank)
Most ISPs don't support usenet anymore, other than on a token basis. Go to www.giganews.com for newsgroup access. $10-$12 per months for fairly basic service. A little more for high volumes. For a newsreader client, download Xnews. It rocks. And it's free.

There is the "grey area"......
If I am listening to station XXXX on my PC and capture the streaming audio to my HD--its widely considered ill-eagle. If I am listening on my stereo and capture something to its CD burner, THEN transfer it to my HD--then its not. Even though BOTH are "currently playing on the radio"
