AHD-o-min

I suspect it's a regional thing.

Gecko's post sounds "Brit" or alternately, "Joisey".

Speaking of mis pronouncing, this mispronouncing on purpose has got to stop.

First it was harassment being pronouced as Harrissment.

Now Monday night I heard on the news a lady pronouce controversy as
con TRA versy...emphasis on the TRA, the a in TRA suonded like the a in MAD.

weirdo stuff

I call it the stupid thing I keep kicking in the middle of the night with my bare feet because it has legs of it's own and finds its own way across the damn house. I mean the kitchen? Seriously? Why? I doubt my toes will ever be the same It's just another useless piece of furniture that longer fits the house, like those $900 pair of jeans my wife just had to buy and then they didn't fit right...

OTT-oh-man. Kinda like "Auto-man." Also Hassock.

Anyways, I have to agree with the couple of posts above. There's a furniture store here in the region, and, in the ads, they sell a "CHaise lounge," with a hard "CH." All my life, it's been prounounced "shayz," not "chase" with a "z" instead of an "s."

Drives me nuts.

Depends on how you enunciate the word. In KY, I spelt it rite.

Oh, I am the right one here. Though she will never admit it.

She pronounces it aught-man. Now on purpose to piss me off.

When I finally broke last night we went over to a friends house and she claims to have always pronounced it aught-man as well. I am still pushing for at least 3 syllables here.

We did get to talking about the true Hillbillies that live around here, and words that seem to have gone away (or pronunciation of words).
They both joked that they grew up thinking the Dresser in their bedrooms was called a Chester Drawers until they started reading.

I'm not holding it against her, well I wasn't until she started calling it an aught-man on purpose.

Ask her to show you one word in the english language that has a silent O. I know of none but, there may be some out there. Feel free to point them out, I could be wrong but, I don't think so.

I think I am dropping it with her lol. She said something last night about how she was going to go back to her old way of pronouncing B.J., and reminded me that it was F* YOURSELF. So I am betting that I lost this one. Time to lay low for a few days . Can anyone guess whats about to happen for around a week at MY house?

I didn't think most footstools were big enough to sleep on. Of course, you could throw a if you don't get your way.

They are always right, even when they are wrong they are right.

Just live with it.

I make it a point never to deal with my wife, especially when she is right.

Happy or right? Choose one, because you can't be both. Do you really want to go celibate over an aughtman?

Oh I doubt that, the dogs all looking at me, wanting to know why I am hurting Mommy, it's bad enough getting a kiss goodnight.
