I found a 2000 dodge caravan with a blown timing belt cheap. What motors are the ones that bend the valves in those? Or is it all of those? Or none of those?

The 3.3 and 3.8 have chains and they are pretty much bulletproof.

The 4 cyl 2.5 and the 3.0 mitsubishi v6 are the only other options. Not sure whether they are interference or not but at least answers part of your question. Is it a 4 or 6 cyl?

The add doesn’t say what motor just that it is a 2000 and the timing belt is gone. I am going to call tomorrow.

Just did some looking and you are safe either way. None of them are interference engines.

The belt on the 2.5 is a half day job and not too bad to do. No special issues I can recall.

I only did one 3.0 timing belt on an older Dynasty. The belt on the 3.0 is a comparative nightmare and will probably take a weekend. There was a large mounting plate covering the belt area that required ALL the accessories be removed. The timing belt also spins the water pump which is connected to a tube that crosses under the intake and can be all corroded if it was not taken care of.

None of those sound bad, for 200 bucks hell I’ll spend a weekend doing a belt.

Thanks

Steve
