Well for one thing it would make it easier for the new car manufacturers. They would only have to build cars to ONE emission standard.

Instead of one for,
California,
One for MI,
One for FL,
One for each individual state like they do now.

When I was building cars we had to put different smoke crap on different cars going to different states. That makes it harder for the manufacturer.

If they have to build them all to one uniform standard it is easier, and in the long run cheaper for the manufacturer.
And maybe, just maybe they will cost us less. MAYBE.

Technology is great when it works,
and one big pain in the ass when it doesn't.
Detroit iron rules all the rest are just toys.

I speak from experience. It isn't about emissions nor better fuel economy. It's all about making you jump through the hoops and ultimately forcing everyone to buy a brand new electric car or hybrid.

I really freaking wish that people would look at the emissions put out just to manufacture the BATTERIES in these hybrid POS'S. it puts out just as much if not more CO2 than my monte carlo ss will in it's lifetime, and i have zero emissions garbage on it.

Well, if they adopted Michigan's across the board maybe cheaper and easier, but not Cali's.

Apparently White Devel 88 managed to pass Calif BAR smog referee. It's not easy. any little thing not absolutly right and you fail and you can't register your car. It's so intimidating that many people compilating a engine swap just give up and forget it. I go on Honda site's and theres a lot of Civics with Integra motors in them where some of them pay a lot to get it smogged. Here you ask a guy to take a chance of loosing his buisness and livelyhood to make a few hundred to smog your car, Great. I think some engine swapped cars they drive it until the registration is due and then try to sell it. There a lot of Integras with B20's in them. B20 is a CRV motor, considered a light truck so the motor is illegal in any car. B20 looks like the Integra motor so I wonder if guy's try to smog it and hope the smog technican dosn't notice it's B20 clearly stamped on the engine.
