Well, a friend of mine and I went to a gun show tonight in Valley Forge. He found a S&W M29-2 .44 Mag that he's picking up on Sunday...But I found something else: An H&R "The American Double Action" .38 cal 5 shot in about 60-75% condition. Guy wanted $35 for it. Is there much of a market for these in collectors circles? Looked to be all nickel plated, and in working condition...Should I pick it up? Its cheap enough hehe... What would I be looking at getting out of it if I were to resell it to a collector? From my research, I'm seeing about $75-$95 for it in 60% condition. And really all it needs is the nickel plate polished up to make it better condition... What would I use to polish it up if I do get it?
What do you guys think? Is this a run don't walk to get gun?
------------------ My worst enemies are those who presume me to be harmless. They cannot imagine how much I resent and disdain them, or just how great a threat they would face if I could get at them. Everything in their behavior speaks of insult and presumptuousness, and for now it is all I can do to make constructive use of my anger toward them. At this time, I just make a list of them and keep a watch on. Some day, with the help of time, space, and circumstance, I will be able to humiliate them properly - not in a manner they would enjoy, but in a style calculated to make them wish that they had never been born. - Anton Szandor LaVey

The man/seller at the gun show is probably a dealer or gun nut and knows the value of the weapon . If you do not have a lot of weapons I would buy it ,,there is a possibility this gun has a defect you do not see. any lite metal cleaner will clean it up simichrome best ,,Just use the white rubbing compound if you have it .a very versatile compound. $2.00 at auto parts store..,,many uses
I think this is a good project ,but do not expect a lot ,,some one will want to buy this gun from you some day.. Even a defective weapon will find a buyer when people are nervous about the society they live in I was a gun nut for many years and use them in my previous employment

Uh oh, who let stan out of his cage
In all seriousness though, thanks for the info boss. I could always use more guns, although my main choice if I were to buy something would be a .223 bullpup (GSG9), a 5.7mm bullpup rifle (FN 2000), a Dragunov 7.62x54R with full sniper setup, or a selective fire AR or AK...
Not sure yet if I'm going to pick this up, gonna make a few calls tomorrow to see what kind of cash I can get out of it if I clean it up and resell it. Its a collectors gun, not a shooter. If I can get it for $35 and make $60 off it by reselling, I'm ahead of the game $25. Which would work out great, I could use the extra cash...Capitalism at its finest

I'm 4th in line. I don't even own a gun, have only shot a rifle, and that was over 30 years ago. Even I know this is a steal. Buy the stupid gun. After you buy it, if you don't like it, I'll give you $45 for it.

Problem with the no paper trail idea: It'll be registered in my name. PA requires a backround check and registration with the purchase of a gun. And in the case of a private sale, it has to be transferred by a licensed dealer...
So your here asking us if you should spend a measly $35 on a gun yet if you had a choice you would get a 15K+ select fire gun? Wouldn't we all
