"Seventeen years ago, Ken Imhoff watched Cannonball Run and became so enamored with the Lamborghini Countach in the film, he hand-built his own, in his basement"

Now that is some dedication...
I referenced it in this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum6/HTML/065718.html

I finally found where I read about it.
His fabrication skills are amazing.

VERY cool. There's a build thread out there somewhere about a guy building a Reventon in a similar way. Not in his basement though.

I lose interest in a project after a few months. But 17 years.... at least it is hand crafted and formed on an English wheel.

Think he was married?

My wife would kill me for using the Acetylene/Oxygen in the house, let alone under the house.

If he is actually married (and she lives with him), then he needs to write a book, tell us his secrets.

Ferruccio Lamborghini would be proud of this mans work and would have gladly let him use the name I think. That car is drop dead sexy and not just because it's a Lamborghini but becasue he built it himself.

sorry for the hi-jack - but:

is this guy stealing from Lamborghini? should he be fined/jailed for copyright infringement?
as far as I knew - these laws do not apply to private citizens doing private things.
he would only be "stealing" or infringing copyrights if he SOLD his creation - and sold it saying it was in fact a Lamborghini.

They probably would. He made the body 100% accurate using aluminum. Didn't Lamborghini make the original bodies out of aluminum? (I don't know)

I still think it is funny that he did it in his basement. Then he dug out a ramp on one wall, removed that wall, and then drove it out.

twofatguys:
I think he is married. There is a picture of him with (I assume) his daughter.

Pyrthian:
I have no idea. But, I would imagine that the rules for a kit car would apply to his car.
