Can't say I'm surprised. But more and more evidence is mounting that the Obama administration is targetting Republican supporting Chrysler and GM dealerships for closure. I guess this is more of the "change " Americans wanted when they elected Obama.
Your thread title is a bit misleading, but the article in the examiner was well-written. Either way, closing profitable dealers is a really stupid move.

If the owners of the dealership support and contribute to a certain political party other then the Democrats, they could be considered a threat by Obama, and as such their business killed off by him and his former democrat Car Czar. If there is one thing we have seen from Barry, it's that its his way, or the high way.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the vast majority of the car dealerships supported Republicans. If 80% of the car dealerships are Republican, then anyone with a vague grasp of logic can understand that the majority of the dealerships being closed would also be Republican.
Whipped out the Google to check my assumption and came across this... it's actually 88% that supported Republicans.

They are siting the Huffington Post, which isn't a legitimate news source. But that doesn't matter.
But the stats doesn't matter. I'm sure that business owners contribute heavily to Republicans as it is in their interest not to support Democrats who want to destroy their business.
The question isn't that ALL of the dealerships that owners contributed to Republicans are being close (you have to keep some around to pay taxes), is that if their are any supporters of Democrats that are being closed? Does the Huffington Post reference that?
Let me know if a dealer like that pops up.

Be careful with accepting that data from that blog.
Just a quick perusal of their examples showed that they appear to include *any* car dealer, auto dealer, etc. This included those that clearly listed themselves as "self employed", and I suspect that closer examination would show that the complete list would include every "corner used car lot owner" in the country, and therein lies the problem... The issue is with GM and Chrysler NEW CAR DEALERS. I haven't done the same research that the author of the blog has, so I can't yet confirm or dispute his assertion that 88% of all car dealers contributed to the Republican Party or a Republican candidate, what I can say is the author, either intentionally or unintentionally, used bad demographics and the conclusion we are supposed to make from "the flaw in his slaw" is that 88% of all GM and Chrysler new car dealers were/are Republican donors. He hasn't shown that and neither have you.
Produce data showing the political donations of only GM and Chrysler new car dealers and we might have a point of discussion.

That point is addressed in the link.
If 88% of the car dealerships were democrats and supporters of Obama and this administration, how zealous would they have been to close dealerships in the first place?

Gee, in one industry, 88% of the business owners are Republican? What a shock. Where are all the Democrat business owners, since they claim to know so much about how business should run?
