Posting photo's, what sites are you using to host them ?
I purchased a new Casio Exilim 10.1 mega pixel camera.
I've been using www.myfiero.com to upload/host my photo. That site allows a Max Size: 100.00 KB
My problem is in the smallest VGA mode (640 x 480) it makes 250kb size files. I have to edit the photo and save it with about 50% less quality to get it down to a size that will fit.
In doing so, it really makes the photo look bad.
Here's an examble,
This shot is hosted by imageshack
Shot below (same photo) is hosted by myfiero.com Reduced down to Qty 60% less
Are there any sites that will let you post photo's w/o having to click on the little white box w/"img > 150mb" to view them ?
I need a site that will take slightly larger kb shots, still in the 640 x 480 size.
Thanks for any info.

Your best bet for posting pics online is to resize the picture on your PC before uploading it to your host. That'll give you the best quality in the smaller pic. Windows XP Power Toys lets you right click on a pic and resize it from there.

The other photo's I dealing with are already 640 x 480, need to make the size of the file smaller.
So I need a program that will let me select a file size for an existing 640 x 480 photo, getting it down under 100 kb
To tell the truth, I don't know of any photo utility which will allow you to set the targeted file size (not image size) first, and then automatically re-compress to that specified file size. (But there are lots of utilities I haven't tried.)
Any program or utility I've used, it's been necessary to select a level of compression first, and then see what the file size ends up being. Basically trial and error.
Yeah, it's a nuisance, but you get an idea of what compression to select after awhile.

** Edit ** I download this, Can't seem to get it to work. I tried a photo that was 3648 x 2736 , file size : 2572 kb
I right clicked, selected the "new" 640 x 480 option, but nothing happened. Any ideas ? Would be a cool program, if I could get it to work.

When you right click on the file you had the "Resize Picture" option and clicked that, right? On the Resize Pictures window, select your size then click OK. You should now have a new picture with the same name as the original file on your HDD, but with the word "small" after it (is you chose Small size). If you click Advanced and check to Resize the original pictures, it will resize the original and keep that filename, otherwise it leaves the original alone and saves a new file in the same folder.

I looked this up at the IrfanView site. Notice the last sentence. Sweet, I've been waiting a LONG time to be able to that!
Q: How to reduce saved file size from XX to YY KB? A: There is no one-click solution for that, sorry. 1. Open an image. 2. Go to menu Image->Resize/Resample and reduce the image dimensions in pixels. 3. Go to menu File->Save as, choose JPG and save as new file (see also JPG save options like: lower JPG quality, uncheck EXIF, etc.). 4. Look at the file size of the new file. If still too big, repeat the steps, using smaller pixel size and/or lower quality, etc. X. For many images, use File->Batch Conversion, Advanced options. Note: since version 4.20 is a new JPG save option allowed: Set file size. IrfanView PlugIns must be installed.

Yeah, I installed the plug ins, just the 2nd one containing roit.dll file, had to copy the downloaded temp folders into the "plugin" folder manually, then worked like a champ 1st time.
When I used the "save as" option, a pop-up option comes up, gives you the option of the file size. After then it gives you the chance to select the photo size, enter 640 , the 480 loads automatically.
The process for that huge file only took like 5 seconds.
Thanks again Patrick
