British forces handed over military control of the Basra area to U.S. commanders Thursday to clear the way for America's main battlefield ally to exit Iraq after more than six years of war.

President Barack Obama has said he plans to withdraw American combat troops from Iraq by Aug. 31, 2010, leaving a contingency force of up to 50,000 to train and advise the Iraqi security forces. The remainder of American troops are required under a U.S.-Iraqi security pact to leave by the end of 2011.

What are your Future Predictions for Iraq?

I think Iraq will end up a U.S. possession before 2020.
The oil will just become too valuable to screw around anymore.

Who wants to be those 50k soldiers?
Would they be outnumbered at that point?

You have to be kidding Boonie!! If that ever happened, every American would have to move there too...because the US would be blown to smithereens by an Atom Bomb attack. I wish I was wrong, and hope I am proved so to be...but I doubt it..oh, and Israel would be gone too.

Maybe thats what we need.
It would make things SO much easier.
Becouse you just know that would be all the excuse we need to clean Afganistan up.
Maybe even 1 or 2 other terrorist hotspots.

Ideally, the terrorist's launch would hit somewhere not too importent, like Texas.
Then we pretend we are all horrorfied that they took our beloved Texas.
We send 3 missles for every one missle they send.

After it's all done, we move Mexico into Afganistan, and stretch Texas into Mexico.
Then we repopulate Texas with Iraqi refugees, where we can watch em'.
At least they will be less radical then most Texans!

Bingo!
Everybody wins!

Hold on a minute - Texas - Not too important? Texans - Radical? I think the cold has got to you Boondawg. Although I am not a native Texan, I do live here and would much rather see them nuke Alaska - Less US population loss that way plus with Alaska being a nuclear waste land, it opens the door for all that Oil Drilling up there. Another Win - Win situation!

That would make a lot of sense considering they weren't in Iraq before the US got there.
