120 over 77.

Is that good, bad, normal etc?

Don't know if it matters, but I am 37yrs old, 6'6 and about 255lbs.

120/80 is the number given as "normal".

So your blood pressure is great. Excellent. Your risk of problems related to blood pressure is extremely low.

Theoretically, up to a point, lower is even better. 110/70 is even better. 100/60 is even better better.

Getting much lower than that, well, you DO need to have enough pressure to defy gravity and splash some blood onto your brain once in a while.

We don't start recommending medicine to lower the blood pressure until it is consistently over 140/90. Well, that is the U.S. I have heard that in Great Britain they pegged the number at 145/95. Doesn't make one right or wrong. Just what risk level is acceptable versus what cost of treatment.

Hi frontal lobe!! I guess you missed a couple of posts I made, so i hope Gecko won't mind a mini hijack...
My BP is now down to an average of 120/70. I have cut back the lisinapril to 20/10 once a day. I attribute most of the reduction to three things
1. The medicine you so kindly informed me about.
2. I have cut out ALL added to salt to my food...period (and everything has started to taste better )
3. I told my brothers, from my HEART, to take the money (what is left=20% ) and stick it where the sun don't shine ...and I forgave my father for his percieved (by me)unkindness
So...do you think I can cut out the medicine altogether now? it does make me very tired, and upsets my stomach. I have accidently missed a few days, and no adverse effects..but I guess I would need to miss a whole week to tell properly Hope you come back and read this
Sorry again Gecko

Hi! No. Sorry. I hadn't seen it. Congratulations on getting it down!

Yes, you might be able to eventually stop the bp medicine. But in the meantime, maybe just switch it to at bedtime so hopefully any tiredness would be while you were sleeping anyway.

And you could step it down before stopping it. You could take 1/2 tablet daily for a while and see if the bp is still good.

Considering what is coming up Saturday, I was also wanting to hear your 40 yard dash time because things were looking good. But then I saw the age.

I have atrial fibrillation, and one lung that doesn't work to full capacity. (born this way). So all my going fast has to be in a car.
