Need some dental work. New upper and lower partial bridges, mainly. I have heard it is much cheaper and (with the right dentist) just as good as U.S. dentistry a short distance over the Texas border.

Any experiences or advice?

I know of some who went to Mexico for extensive dental work at 1/3 the price of state side estimates. Vacation in Tijuana/Mexicali. I don't know about the drug gang problems in those areas.

Haven't done it myself, but my old boss out in San Angelo had all his dental work done that way, tho he had plenty of $ and was on his wife's dental ins--she worked for the State of Texas.

But John, the stories you hear about the dentists having assistants from boy's town---(getting your teeth cleaned and your ____ creamed) all at the same time--well, I wouldn't know about that and wouldn't put much faith in it being true.

Most Mexican Dentist come to the US to get their Dental education, so they are as good as Dentist here. I had a root canal and crown done in Mexico city and they did a very good job. I would be concerned about getting any dental work done just across the border because of the problems they are having with drug gangs and kidnappings.

Is flouride spelled t-e-q-u-i-l-a? If so, I bet I'll try it!

I plan on going to the Harlingen area to plant myself while I go over the border to get the dental work done. I am a Texan and will not be travelling unarmed.

Anyone in the area willing to hold-my-gun while I go over the border, hehehehehehe?

A few co-workers have had Mexican dental work done, and are very happy with the results.

Like you said, I would imagine it's about finding the right dentist.

my g/f can tell you the horror story she had when her mom took her to Mexico to get dental work done, not a pleasant ordeal.
