Just caught this the other week. They converted a Porsche Boxer to a Carrera GT body. For the amount of work they had to do, I'm not even sure if that body was supposed to fit a Boxer, but they did it. Also, the fiberglass quality seemed terrible, because they must have covered EVERY INCH of the body with body filler. I wasn't wildly impressed with how they glued in the lights and lens covers, but the final painted car looked pretty good. Boxer + body kit + materials totaled $24,000 (they didn't count hours of labour)
I couldn't help thinking how much the "bolt on panels" contruction of the Fiero simplifies body conversions that use the same mounting points.
Thats the way most body kits are. All require some shaping and grinding, lots of surface flaws to fix. Wouldnt be uncommon to have a layer of filler or icing on just about a whole body. Ive seen guys like Foose do the same thing to metal body cars. On my Diablo I even had to move the gas filler door to the opposite side. Warlock built the kit with the fill on the right side instead of the left. Windshield never did fit the frame, nor was the removable top ever removable. It was on or off permanently because of their design flaw. I put on side windows on Raptor (Fiero V8) the same way they did the head and tail lites and it looked factory installed and trimmed in person.

Just watch last weeks episode, forgot it was on the DVR. It was a comparison of the real Diablo to a Fiero based Kit. I thought it was funny the Kit owner thought his stock Fiero 2.8 would make 280 on the Dyno, it came up at 96. Then they tried to Dyno the Diablo and the owner didnt know it was AWD so they tried to Dyno and it tried to launch.....oops... they couldnt Dyno it !

I've been watching since the 3rd episode. They're going to start a SuperStepSide kit this week (I had wanted to turn my '90 Caprice into a Superstepside but never did).
My former Caprice:

He wouldn't be the first guy with the money to buy a car he knows nothing about and CAN'T DRIVE. He should have whipped the Fiero on the road course, but he missed a shift and was afraid to push the thing in the corners. The way he drove, he'd only have won if the road course was in the shape of a 4-sided square box.
