I busted a couple of young punks trying to dump a huge pile of leaves in the alleyway from their pick up truck. Police got there in the nick of time too. Long story, short.
I noticed a white pick up truck backing up to the fence area down the alley, took a look at them, they noticed me and drove off. Ok, about an hour later about 7:40 pm, here drives the same white pick up truck and backs up to the fence, you guessed it, they started pushing the leaves out the back with a snow shovel.
I walk down there and ask, “Are you raking up leaves or dumping them?” I quickly recite their license plate number to them and said “You’ve got two minutes to pick this all up” then walked away. One of the kids tried to plead his case said they haven’t got a rake, it’s his buddy’s truck, don’t want to get him into trouble to which I replied, “You’ve got three minutes, get busy!” Anyways the police arrived just as they were driving around the corner.
I don’t mean to be rotten about it but seriously, don’t dump leaves for Pete’s sake. The leaves will only blow into our apartment grounds making a mess out of everything. Everybody else puts them into bags for pick up, this is not Detroit, please respect us our neighborhood.
Mixed feelings, felling low that I called the police on them but proud that I am proactively looking out for my neighbors and the businesses there. Anyways, that was my excitement for the weekend.
