Was taking to Jay (Eclipse here on PFF) and mentionioned that I'm thinking of a new bike this summer.........
He flat out told me "no", I'll be dead on it........girl at work says the same thing, mom and dad say it, my brother who I used to ride with tells me to stay away from the things, couple others on this forum have told me its probably a bad idea me getting on one again.........
Like, What, man????..........an itchy wrist isnt a bad thing !!! <grin>
Maybe, just this once, (only once) I will listen to u guys.
And a very heartfelt thanks to people that seem to want to keep me around.
(really, it aint that bad......not like I've never gone over the handlebars before. It dont hurt THAT much.......<grin> )

Oh....man..........ya gotta try on one of these. The acceleration under WOT will give ya whiplash !!!
Better than any sex you ever had.
All I can say is you gotta get out more.
Actually, when I got my last bike, I didn't say anything to anyone, I just got it. Remember, it's always easier to ask for forgiveness that it is to ask for permission.

I've had two of these, the last one just like that. Man, I miss that bike !!! Kinda like my V-Star more though but wish I had kept the FJ as well. Now that the garage is clean I could've *S*.
My friend during the last deployment bought a VROD when he went home on R and R leave. When we came back there was some kit he bought that included him sending his stock pipes to a shop to get the baffles removed to install new ones. It was like 700 for a powercommander premapped for the kit, K&N filter, and the stuff for the pipes. That thing was a pretty beastly bike and handled/stopped well too.
I Ride a 95 Honda VFR 750 and its my favorite bike.
So far I''ve owned
04 Suzuki Katana 750 06 Yamaha FZ6(garbage bike) 07 Yamaha R6s(had LOTS of mods but cost of ownership killed me)
My VFR is by far my favorite bike bar none, its comfortable, fast, handles good, stops good, and love the sound of a V4 engine.
I wanted a bike for the longest time and eventually got one just to dink around with. It was an '82 Kawi 440. I was running it around my house after tinkering with it when the throttle decided to stick and I dumped over. Messed up my ankle really bad and got cut up pretty good by the sidewalk I ended up on. I decided I was insane and got rid of it.
...but my little toy got my brother hooked so now he's on his second bike. His starter bike was stolen so he went out and bought himself a new Yamaha cruiser (how he affords a new bike plus a kid plus school is beyond me).
I still want something to just tool around on so I'm thinking about building a motor-bike (think circa 1900 harley when it had a little motor and pedals for when the motor died). They're cheap to build, cheap to run (150 mpg on some), and in most states don't require tags/taxes/inspection/etc.
Anyway, my thoughts are if you really want a bike go for it but bear in mind they are super dangerous and to have all your legal docs in order for a worst case scenario...

Honestly..best I ever rode a silly little 500 Interceptor.
Not particularly fast, the chain was a PITA...but light and nimble and comfortable. a little twist, lean foreward and the front wheel was 2 feet in the air no problem at all.
Most fun cruiser I ever had was an 81 Suzuki GS650 with a windjammer fairing, folding highway pegs and saddlebags. Ya could load that thing up, strap a sleeping bag across the back and just.."go".
I do have this dream of someday getting an '84 250 Honda Rebel...dunno why, its too small to do anything and is a girls bike----but its so damn CUTE and would be a lot of fun to wrench on.
Kinda like the pocket bikes or minni horses........not good for much, but ya still want one.
