Ok, I screwed up. Bought a new laptop from Dell without Norton. I thought I could put a version of Symantec Client on the machine but it will not go on a 64-bit system. Already had deleted McAfee prior to the install so there is no protection at this time.

Symantec says I need Symantec Endpoint at $100. Anyone have a cheaper but equally appropriate option?

Symantec sucks!

Avast is great, compatible with a 64-bit O/S; and the best part is, it's free!

I have Avast and it runs 64 bit without a hitch!! and its free (x3)
