Just like the title said, I am thinking of putting a new deck on my freebee snowmobile trailer. It has 5/8” ply on it now. It has seen better days.

I have some 1/16” diamond plate out back that I can use to re-deck it. So I need to know the weight difference between the steel and the ply.

Anybody?

I found this,

http://www.engineeringtoolb...uge-sheet-d_915.html

So using this just how much would a 7’ X 8’ sheet of 1/16” weight?

I’m coming up with 145.6 lbs. am I right?

Earle M. Jorgensen Steel lists 16GA Diamond Plate as 3 lbs per square foot, So I'm thinking 168 pounds might be closer for the entire 7 foot by 8 foot sheet. Gotta account for the nubs!

Wikianswers says the APA requires 3 pounds per square foot per inch of Plywood thickness, so 5/8 Ply should be 105 pounds.

So you'll be adding no more than 63 pounds.

Thanks guys, seeing I was going to go with 3/4" ply if I did go with ply then I guess the steel would be cheaper, seeing I already have it, and 3/4" pressure treated ply goes for about 50 bucks a sheet.
