I have a 2003 SVT focus. I would like to get rid of the power steering but avoid damage to the rack. Can I just connect the line from the pump and the return from rack?? Fill the system with some ATF( the fluid ford wants in the system) and call it done?? Should I put a T in the line at that fitting and put a filter so it can vent?? There is a vent on the rack but I just wanna make sure. I dont want this to be a discussion of whether I should do this or not just how can I do this without damaging the rack. I know I will need to get a shorter belt and make sure the water pump spins the right way. Does it matter which way the alternator spins??
