Anyone have any experience with those little electric scooters?

I am taking a job and I have to park about 4-6 blocks away. I was thinking a small electric, portable scooter would be helpful on days I needed to get into the building fast.

Can they climb hills? How long do the batteries last?

What, like a Rascal?

those cheap electric scooters are pretty bad. They won't handle hills. Battery lasts about 20 minutes. Charging takes 6 hours or more (overnight? I don't remember).

how 'bout one of these?

A real electric scooter like a Vectrix works fine, though the range probably won't be quite as good as is quoted. If you're talking about some cheap Walmart piece, I can't help you.

I actually have an electric moped.

It looks a lot like this:

Works great. Street legal. I say it has about a 25 mile range on a single charge and goes up around 30mph.

Do you have a pic of yourself riding it with a skull cap helmet and a black leather jacket?

I think he wants something to fit in his trunk.

For just a few blocks, id not bother. I walk 2 blocks to the building every day. it doesn't take THAT long. and screwing around with some scooter/bike would take up too much time to make it worthwhile.

I had an electric Razor. Basicly a motorized skateboard with handles. It was slower than walking, battery charge didnt last for over a few miles. Maybe theyve gotten better since 5 years ago.

4-6 blocks? Get a bicycle. Even uphill it should be ok. You'll have all day to recharge your legs for the ride back downhill.

They have gas and electric here,

http://www.monstermotorscooter.com/

Before my stroke I considered one, now with my balance problems I don’t think it would be a good idea.

I need something small that I can carry into the hospital and put in the corner of my office. I am all about excercise but if I can get to my car quicker, especially after work, I can get home quicker. The walk takes about 15-20minutes. With a scooter I can cut that time in half and also beat traffic. I just may consider one of those cheap kick scooters. But, the electrics sound fun. I dont see any of the college kids using them so there must be something no too good about them.

Well, most of em are made in China and the quality is questionable, so I wouldn't spend much on one myself. I don't know about the campus you're referring to, but at my old college, you couldn't ride anything on campus without getting a ticket from the campus PD.
