Ok heres my problem. I got back from iraq 2.5 months ago. Bought a new bike and had it insured throught progressive. I put it on the same policy as my old bike. Thought I had made the arrangements online to have it paid in full to Nov on my credit card. Well then I left right after to New Mexico for two months to help take care and visit a grandmother who has cancer. Come home to find that the insurance policy was canceled. I had missed the 14 day window to have it reinstated. Also the day before i called and started a new policy for both bikes, my little brother has a motorcycle accident. Didn't bother to get the information form the lady he hit with my bike, which was uninsured at the time because of the lapse in coverage. The entire policy was cancled because of the one bike. So what now? the lady has reported it to the insurance and they are doing an investigation. Problem is they never ran my Credit card so i have no way to prove that it should have been paid for. I'm going to call the lady and try and get it settled outside the insurance. My brother waited to get the information until after the had reported it. Can they retract thier claim to thier insurance? If that doesn't work, what could happen? Any suggestions?

I wish you luck. I don't know much about this except for dropping claims. One of our company HHRs got pelted with hail. We made a claim and then the dents mostly came out on their own in the heat. We decided it was not worth the deductible over a few dents so we called and canceled the claim. We are insured with esurance and they were very easy to deal with. I hope this helps, and again best of luck!

Thats why I always talk to someone when paying our insurance, I have been screwed over in the past. One of us will call the card in and pay it over the phone and get a conformation number.
How bad was the damage, did she get an estimate yet? I hate to be this way but it sounds like your little brother needs to step up, has he expressed any thoughts on paying for the damage? I'm sure the lady just wants her car fixed and for this to go away, be honest and up front with her and I'm sure something can be worked out.

I hope it works out for you and your brother, I hope the lady doesn't soak you for too much.
Bottom line is your brother is ok, bike accidents can get bad quick.

i have progressive and it sends me an e-mail everymonth before it bills me, and if my card fails it sends me a letter and an e-mail, and i get a call from someone...

not to mention, if they cancle your insurance, most DMV's send you a letter saying it was cancled and your getting a fine for still having a tag and no insurance...
id call and talk to someone, tell them you were over sea's see if they cant help u...

Just so you know progressive can pull your phone call. They save something like 5 years at a time worth of any policy addition or change phone calls. I went through the same thing with my boat and an accident that happened 2 days after I got it. If you actually set up and paid the policy it will be in the phone log. Call customer service and demand that they pull all your back logged calls. If they refuse ask to speak to whoever is in charge of the building that they phone you called is in. You want the person in charge not a mid level lackee. This can be a nightmare but if you did infact pay or make the policy it will infact be there.
