My 95 3100 powered Lumina is making a clunking noise upon acceleration, braking, and when I shift the tranny. It also occasionally does it when I hit a bump in the road. I was wondering if it sounded like engine mounts, or if it sounded suspension related.. I took a short video to show how much the engine moves when I rock the car back and forth (which could be completely normal, I just thought it seemed like a bit much), and hopefully it'll be helpful. If you turn up yourt sound, then you can hear what sounds like the same clunk I hear when driving, but I'm not 100% sure it's the same sound.. I appreciate any comments.. Thanks guys!

take a vid while some one runs the car through the gears and have them hold the brake and give it some gas.

Howdy guys!! I ended up replacing the lower mount with a solid one from Auto Zone. The clunk went away, for about three days. Then it came back... I replaced the torque struts (aka dogbones) this morning, and the clunk is still there...

I am kind of lost as to where to go next.. Do I need to replace the brackets on the radiator support for the torque struts, the tranny mount??? Also, I noticed that the driver side torque strut seems to be sitting crooked.. It may supposed to be like this, but it didn't look right to me, so I uploaded some pics to see if it's normal or not..

One other thing, my lower mount couldn't have gone bad in three days could it? I figured since it's a solid mount, it would be all right, but I wanted to double check..

When one mount goes bad and has been run like that for awhile, it is likely all mounts are bad and need to be replaced.

Look at the trans mounts and you will probably find it bad aswell. That might explain why the dogbone is crooked on the trans side. You might want to go back and check the engine mount to make sure it hasn't gone bad already. Not very likely but if you run it hard or it wasn't mad well, its possible.

The new lower mount is solid, instead of the hydraulic one the car had originally,.. I only ran it a couple days so i hope its ok... Tranny mount looks ok, i don't see any hydraulic fluid blown out of it... The car definitely has not been run hard either since i replaced the mount...
